Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregorie Fravien.
Gregorie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been an artist. I remember watching reruns of Dragon ball z on VHS when I was younger. I didn’t take it too seriously until I got into art school, and was shown the actual amount of work it takes to make something beautiful. I fell in love with the process, and have been pursuing it every since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been challenging. I tend to take a while to process things, so learning is no easy process. I also have little bouts of self doubt that cause me to try and change everything about my art. I always circle back to being true to myself in the end!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would call myself a character artist, not just in drawing figures but with everything. Backgrounds, Animals, vehicles, I tend to add character to everything. I like adding my own spin onto everything, and that’s what I think what is the most fun about being an artist. The expression of the artistic voice and the constant polish of clarity with the practice of the fundamentals. I think I am the most proud of my ability to come up with crazy ideas. My overconsumption of all kinds of media has lead to an endless library of outlandish concepts and stories.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me is the ability to express myself. My art tends to take a toll when I try to cater it too much towards what is trendy. When I am able to just be myself and let go of all the expectations, I tend to make something beautiful.
