Rising Stars: Meet Fabiola Rodriguez of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabiola Rodriguez.

Hi Fabiola, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Certainly! I’m a Venezuelan fashion designer currently based in Miami, with over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry.

My journey began at a very young age, inspired by the elegance and beauty of handmade garments. I studied fashion design and specialized in haute couture, eventually launching my own brand dedicated to creating custom-made gowns for women seeking something truly unique for their most special occasions.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of designing wedding dresses, evening gowns, and runway pieces, always emphasizing craftsmanship, elegance, and personal attention.

As my career evolved, I felt the calling to share my knowledge, which led me to create Academia Alta Moda, my Spanish-language YouTube channel where I teach sewing, patternmaking, and couture techniques. Teaching has become a passion, and it’s a way for me to give back to a community that, like me, dreams of building a career in fashion.

This passion also inspired my first book, “Basic Patternmaking for Women’s Clothing”, which will be released in August 2025 through Universo de Letras and Amazon worldwide.

Today, I continue designing with love, teaching with purpose, and creating a legacy rooted in creativity, discipline, and the joy of making dreams come true through fashion.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — it hasn’t been a smooth road. Like in any profession, especially in the fashion industry, developing and projecting yourself as a serious professional takes time, dedication, and resilience.

There were many challenges along the way — from long hours of study and practice, to learning through trial and error, and navigating the uncertainties that come with building something from the ground up. But I’ve always believed that with a clear goal, passion for what you do, and the right mindset, any obstacle can become an opportunity to grow.

Perseverance, constant learning, and love for my craft have been the keys to moving forward. The road may not have been easy, but it has definitely been worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
’m a fashion designer specializing in haute couture and custom-made gowns for women. My work focuses on creating one-of-a-kind pieces that highlight each client’s individuality and beauty, whether it’s for a wedding, gala, or any meaningful occasion.

What sets me apart is the level of personal attention I offer — I take the time to understand my clients’ vision, their body, and their story, so that every design feels like a true reflection of who they are. From the initial sketch to the final fitting, every detail is crafted with precision, artistry, and love.

In addition to designing, I also teach — and that has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey. Through my YouTube channel Academia Alta Moda, I offer classes in Spanish on sewing, patternmaking, and couture techniques, helping others develop their skills and confidence in fashion.

I’m most proud of building a brand that combines creativity, craftsmanship, and education. Designing gowns that bring joy and emotion to women, while also empowering others to learn and grow in this industry, is what truly defines my work.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Miami is its incredible cultural diversity. It’s a vibrant, cosmopolitan city full of contrasts, color, and joy — a place that naturally inspires any artist or creative spirit. The mix of backgrounds, languages, and traditions gives Miami a unique energy that I truly love.

What I like least is that, because of that same openness and diversity, the city can sometimes feel a bit chaotic or excessive. The fast pace and lack of structure in certain aspects can be overwhelming at times. But overall, Miami’s creative pulse outweighs the challenges — it’s a place full of possibility and artistic fuel.
