Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Dash. Them and their team share their story with us below:
DJ Dash started as a dj in his early years of high school. He soon became his school dj performing at every school event such as pep rally’s, dances and graduation parties. After graduation, Dash pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at Florida International University. Here he began to make a name for himself landing residences at Heart nightclub in Downtown Miami and networking with the some of the hottest college promoters in the city. During his college years, Dash began to perform at bigger and better venues such as Cameo, Studio 23 and Exchange Miami on South Beach. Today, Dash is a renowned turntablist, audio engineer and business owner with a team of dj’s under his belt.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Over the years, Dash has had to overcome many obstacles that may have stalled his progressive. Early on, he struggled with landing club bookings based on the amount of followers he had on Instagram at the time despite his talent. It took several years to gain the respect he deserved as a young upcoming dj; however, once an opportunity presented itself, Dash spared no time taking advantage of it. Social following will always be a struggle in today’s age however Dash believes hard work and dedication trumps internet fame.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dash is a Dj first. Performing at the hottest nightclubs in Miami including college events, showcases, restaurants and more. Primarily specializing in Hiphop, Dash is versatile and can rock a party using any style of music including but not limited to reggae, dancehall, soca, Latin and more. Dash is known for keeping the party alive and satisfying the women on the dance floor. Dash also works with local talent as an audio engineer and producer. DamnDash Entertainment LLC started in 2020 is an entertainment company created to bring up local artists in the city and provide with the tool necessary for success. DamnDash Entertainment is different from any other entertainment company by focusing on building relationships and teams rather than focusing on taking money from clients. Dash is an all around businessman and entrepreneur.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes. Due to Covid, Dash has learned that as an entrepreneur, a business needs multiple sources of income. During the pandemic, clubs and restaurants were shut down. Due to this, many djs were forced to find other ways to make money. This is want sparked DamnDash Entertainment; a way to create income without having the need of an open venue. Having a team of djs, artists, producers and engineers, Dash has created avenues for himself to be prepared for another crisis if it arises.
