Rising Stars: Meet Dindie (AieshaTheTeapot) Donelson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dindie (AieshaTheTeapot) Donelson.

Dindie (AieshaTheTeapot) Donelson

Hi Dindie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Southern creative in love with Music & Movies. I am a recording artist (AieshaTheTeapot) as well as a Filmmaker. I began rapping in 2016 & was a full time filmmaker by 2018. I’ve worked with such entities as Apple Music, Quality Control, Netflix & TPS Studios. I am currently working on a new mixtape as well as the ground work for a documentary set to air next year. I believe we as Humans all have a story to tell, we just don’t need to be afraid to tell the Truth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road is never smooth. Some struggles I have encountered in my journey have been racism, sexism & classism. I get into a lot of rooms that some people don’t believe I deserve to be in, especially if they were not extended an invitation. Once I’m in the room, it’s my duty to make sure the door remains open for the next Black creative. My culture & my experiences have shaped me into the Woman I am today, and if I want something—-it’s already mine. All that is left is the Journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I direct, produce, write films. I am a songwriter & recording artist. I specialize in training people to enter the film industry and how to navigate set life. I am known for appearing in the Season Finale of NBC’s Bluff City Law as a Sheriff’s Deputy as well as for the song “TEAPARTY” featured in the indie film Able Bodies. I am most proud of my connection with God, my overweight, fuzzy Cat named Chips & the relationships I build in these creative spaces. What sets me apart from others is my sheer determination. I not only champion for myself, but I do so for others so that they are given the same opportunities & privileges that have been just out of reach for so many Artists of Color.

What matters most to you?
My peace of mind & my ever changing perspective of life matters the most to me. Everyday is another chance to see the world through another’s eyes. Maybe that’s why I love film & music: it’s always from another person’s perspective.
