Hi Dez, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your back story.
My name is Dez Stackz. I never anticipated becoming a musician in my life. My dream was always to be a star, but I was unsure about the path. It wasn’t until after I dropped out of college that I discovered my passion for music. Around 2014/2015, a longtime friend convinced me to contribute background vocals to a song, and I found myself enjoying the experience.
He even assisted in writing my first R&B song, which was called “Chevy”. After discovering my passion for music, I realized that it was something I truly wanted to pursue. Armed with an old Mac laptop my dad gave me, I started recording on GarageBand, immersing myself in the process of writing and recording. Sweating it out in my room all day, I fell in love with the creative journey and drew inspiration from artists like Asap Rocky and the Raider Klan era.
To take my music seriously, I needed a distinctive name, and that led me to choose Majistic Goddess, influenced by the mysterious and angelic vibes of dark rap culture. While I initially recorded on my laptop, the reality check came when I visited a professional studio to rerecord my songs. Despite being my tough critic, positive feedback motivated me to persevere.
Financial and mental challenges were part of the journey; lacking a job, I had to wait until I could afford a one-hour studio session. Despite the hurdles, meeting my ex had a significant impact on my music, pushing me to improve, especially in beat choices and flow.
Around 2015-2016, I rebranded as Dez Stackz, honing my strong voice and improving my songwriting. Performing at prominent clubs and dropping my mixtape “Dez Stackz” in 2019 garnered positive feedback, with over 207,000 combined streams from my music. “Over it,” another well-received mixtape, showcased diverse genres such as pop, rnb, reggae, and rap.
Currently, my EP “333” features the fan-favorite single “Opps.” I’ve gained recognition in publications like Hip-hop since 1987 and 24-Hip-hop. Despite the challenges, my single “Opps” is now played globally, with over 500 listeners for the month. I’m determined to make Dez Stackz a household name, ready to take the world by storm with my upcoming music.

Yes, this journey was never smooth, I ran into financial issues as far as not having money for marketing and creating content. I never knew how difficult it was to get people to listen to your music.

As an artist specializing in songwriting, my proudest moments come from people listening to my music and offering positive feedback. The satisfaction of dropping three projects is a significant achievement for me.
In all honesty, I don’t see myself as fundamentally different from others in the pursuit of success. I believe I share similarities with everyone striving for recognition in the industry.
Along this journey, a crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of being authentic and doing what brings me joy. I’ve come to realize that being true to myself and pursuing what makes me happy is a universal aspiration that resonates with people worldwide.
Any big plans?
In the coming years, I aim to establish a vibrant social community for my fans, fostering increased interaction. I plan to consistently release new music and embark on journeys to different states, spreading my music far and wide. Additionally, I am committed to generating more content to keep my audience engaged.
The vision for the future involves expanding Dez Stackz into a recognized brand, complete with merchandise that will serve as effective promotional tools for my music. I’m excited about these plans and eager to see Dez Stackz grow and thrive.
