Today we’d like to introduce you to Deun.
Hi deun, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Hazel Grove Floral from a place of recovery. After giving birth to my third child late 2024 I struggled with post partum anxiety, and found myself searching for purpose outside of motherhood. I have always enjoyed making floral arrangements and it brought me peace. From the support of my village I was encouraged to turn this into a business. March 2026 I booked my first event through casual conversation expressing my support for women’s mental health. My first event booked was to celebrate Women’s International Month. A purpose close to my heart, and the ideal client I am trying to attract. From there my business was launched and LLC was registered. Creating floral arrangements and curating floral bars for events are a way for me to bring emotion and connection into important moments in people’s lives.
As a mom of three, wife and human resource professional, I understand what it means to listen and help someone put their thoughts into reality. I use this experience and apply it to my business model. As a self taught florist, it is important for me to enhance my craft, from tik tok videos, to classes, to even coloring books I find ways to diversify my creative ways.
My goal is not only to provide beautiful florals, but to create moments that feel personal, warm, and unforgettable. Today, Hazel Grove Floral represents growth, creativity, and the courage to build something from the ground up. I’m excited to continue growing my mobile floral business and, one day open a boutique space where people can gather, learn, and create together.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It for sure has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey so meaningful. One of my biggest challenges was starting a business while navigating postpartum anxiety and adjusting to life as a mother of three. I had many moments of self doubt, exhaustion, and confusion that made me question whether I was capable of building something of my own.
The biggest challenge I have faced is balancing all the roles in my life, mother, wife, professional, and friend. It can be difficult to separate your time when you are the rock for so many people in your life. Its also important to protect my mental health which in the end protects my creativity to ensure I am successful in my business.
Protecting my peace, helps me to enhance my creativity. As a self-taught florist, I frequently face the challenge of learning as I go. I didn’t come from a formal floral design background, so a lot of my growth has come through trial and error of hands-on experience. Building confidence in my craft and business decisions has been a journey in itself, but one that I enjoy.
The other aspect which most entrepreneurs face is finances, I don’t come from a well off family and finding resources to build on my business has been a struggle. Finding decor or props on facebook market place and thrifting vases has been a joy. But throughout all of these challenges I have continued to build on my resilience, creativity and the importance of community support.
Focusing on my why is what keeps me going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Hazel Grove Floral, my focus is creating a memorable experience. Floral bars are popping up all over, and in order to stand myself apart I focus on the experience. The way someone feels when they are given flowers is what sets me apart. I love being a apart of women focused events such as intimate celebrations, brunches, corporate gatherings, and community experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways.
My floral arrangements consist of lots of abstract florals, to create a more unique design.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The type of support I seek at Hazel Grove Floral booking floral bar experiences for meaningful events like corporate events, employee appreciation events, private celebrations, and community gatherings. I also love collaborating with local businesses, event planners, venues, and wellness organizations to create memorable floral experiences. And of course following, sharing, and referring my business to others is always appreciated and helps my small business continue to grow. Word of mouth has gotten me so far in the few months that I have launched.
