Today we’d like to introduce you to Danna Zuluaga.
Hi Danna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Being creative has been part of my life since forever. It’s a big part of me, and without it I don’t think I will be able to be myself freely like I am today. I consider myself a person that likes to express herself in every creative aspect. Everything started by me having my little notebook and drawing my family, and designing dresses for myself; Also, I was in dance and singing classes.
When it really started, my dad gifted me my very first camera, that same vacation, we went to New York, (my favorite place) for the first time and someone from a film and acting academy came to me and give me a flyer about that field, and I completely felt in love. Since then, I knew my form of expressing myself is through art, in any type of form, I feel like myself, I feel free.
The last five years have been a complete discovery of my art and what I want to show. Being behind, in front of the camera, writing, painting, drawing, singing, acting, always creating. But not matter how long the process is, I’m proud of me, where I am, and will be.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely no, but if I don’t go all in, then I don’t want it. Coming from 0, requires a lot of patience and strength. It takes a lot of trial and error.
Oh, and crying too; learn to love what you offer, and trust time.
No matter your career, I think we all felt the same at one point; comparison, frustration, impatience, weakness, and a lot of things that come along the way.
I think my biggest struggle is not accepting my feelings at the moment, it’s okay to feel sad, happy, or like anything is not working out, just accept it and go with time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Everything I do, It’s with the intention of letting people understand they are understood.
I’m proud of all my little projects and the ones to come.
Making the little videos I write has been the strongest way for people to connect with my art or accept the feeling of the moment. Also, I enjoy every step of making them.
I am focused on being the bests version of myself and being present.
P.S: I also have a Spanish podcast which people really enjoy!
How do you define success?
