Rising Stars: Meet Daniela Avila

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Avila.

Daniela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started 6 years ago out of necessity. At the time, I lived in Barranquilla, Colombia and where it was difficult to find pajamas. Buying Pajamas is one of my guilty pleasures. My closet is always filled with half pajamas and half-tips. However, there wasn’t a great quality or selection of pajamas when I was trying to look for new ones to update my wardrobe. I couldn’t find a good selection and the ones I did find were too expensive, so that’s when I decided to create my own product and launch my own brand of pajamas. It definitely hasn’t been an easy process, there are always highs and lows in establishing a new brand.

But the important thing is to take advantage of those low moments and look for opportunities that could help to stabilize the process. Today I feel that my brand has evolved to a much more consolidated product in Colombia, the website moves a lot of inventory through various cities. Now that I am based in Miami I feel that it is a new beginning for Ploff, here in Miami I am starting from scratch but I love the challenge because, with all the experience I have acquired over the years, I can create something exceptional for my brand! A new beginning in the United States.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been smooth, and happy, with a lot of learning and, as I said before, ups and downs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Before I went to graduate school for fashion marketing, I always knew that I wanted to have my own business.

During my schooling years, I worked in multiple jobs and I felt pretty unfulfilled until I decided to start a business on my own! This was the best decision of my life. Today, I am proud to have had my own company and pajama brand for the last 6 years. I always believed in myself and what I was capable of. Now I am proud of the woman I have become.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like the most are the beautiful sunsets and the beach, the different cultures, and the Latino vibes that this city has. What I don’t like are the distances, lol.
