Today we’d like to introduce you to Clairvens Joseph
Hi Clairvens, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Clairvens Joseph, but most people know me as Laybrday. I’m an artist located in West Palm Beach who started out with meme-style rap back in 2018. Over time, I began taking my music more seriously, collaborating with artists like lifelessgarments, Xasper, and alyorra along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There were times when my family and I were homeless, living out of my dad’s tire shop with no place of our own. I didn’t have a mic, and my laptop was in storage, so even making music was a challenge. But I stayed optimistic and focused, and eventually, we were blessed with an apartment. That experience taught me resilience and shaped who I am as an artist.

Online, people know me as Laybrday, an underground artist who doesn’t believe in sticking to one genre like ‘hip-hop.’ My music is all about expression and inspiration, so I’ve explored everything from supertrap and hyperpop to pluggnb, ARNB (Asian rock), and shoegaze. A lot of listeners recognize me from a track I did with Jace!, which became my top song on Spotify, but lately, I’m moving toward an electro-pop sound, working closely with producers like vtmscries and Vital. I’m proud of how I’ve evolved as an artist, but my real passion lies in connecting with other creatives. What makes me different is my fearlessness, I’m open to experimenting and trying something totally unique, even if it feels unconventional.

Something surprising that many people might not know about me is that I was a freshman in high school when Lamar Jackson was a senior, probably around 2015. Additionally, I’m currently studying cybersecurity at Keiser University, which often surprises people!
