Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuave Fernandez
Hi Chuave, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I’m Chuavevo, an urban artist from Córdoba, Argentina, now based in Miami, United States!
I was born and raised in Argentina, where I became immersed in hiphop culture through graffiti and skateboarding. I am the fourth generation of painters in my family.
Through improvisation, I express my thoughts on emotional states through various characters, addressing the complexities of society, everyday situations, and the emotions we all share.
My work takes shape on diverse surfaces and supports, from urban murals to ephemeral installations, creating a unique visual dialogue with the surroundings.
Every stroke, color, and depicted character aims to convey the richness and diversity of human experiences. I delve into urban art as a way to express my connection with the
community and explore the intersection between public
space and individual creativity.
My focus is on capturing fleeting moments and transforming them into lasting expressions that invite
reflection. Through my art, I seek not only to share my unique perspective but also to foster emotional
connections between people and the urban art that adorns the streets. Welcome to my creative world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey. I wouldn’t define it as difficult or problematic. I prefer to talk about situations rather than problems, so I’d rather describe it as having faced many complex situations. In fact, I painted from the age of 13 to 18, and from 18 to 25, I worked in a different commercial field in Argentina to support my finances and those of my mother. In 2018, I came to Miami for the first time, and since then, it has been my goal to participate in the Wynwood art scene. I was fortunate enough to finally achieve that, and here I am.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started my career through graffiti, and today I am a muralist. My career developed on the streets in a self-taught manner. Painting in the urban scene quickly made me known in my city, Córdoba, Argentina. Using the same methodology, I began to expand to different cities and eventually to different countries.
I believe that one thing that made a significant difference was my innate ability to empathize and socialize. Something I am very proud of is being able to help others, especially when, at some point in my life, I was the one who needed help. To this day, I have been collaborating for 4 years with a food kitchen for those in need in Córdoba, Argentina, and since then, the improvements in every aspect have been very beneficial.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Aquí está la traducción al inglés:
One piece of advice I could give to those who are just starting is to focus on developing good values, as these will accompany us throughout the journey. If our goal is truly clear, we need to reach it and turn it into a way of life. The power of taking action can transform the reality of any of us. The power of patience can bring out the best in us, and humility can open the best doors to achieve our goals.
