Carlos, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into the world of music ignited a deep passion for Electronic Dance Music (EDM). Inspired by artists like John Digweed, Carl Cox, and Armin van Buuren, among others, a diverse spectrum of genres, including Trance, Techno, Deep House, Minimal, Tribe, Progressive House, and Psy-Trance, marked the inception of my musical exploration. Guided by this passion, I embarked on a voyage to iconic musical cities celebrated for their electronic music scenes and festivals. From Love Parade in Berlin to Sensation White in Amsterdam, Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and EDC Vegas, these experiences seamlessly intertwined with my EDM adventure.
In 2020, I committed myself to a deeper understanding of electronic dance music’s technical intricacies, diving into the creation of mixes that consistently embodied high BPMs and deep basslines. This journey extended beyond mere technical proficiency; I delved into the complexities of the music world, understanding everything from the different equipment to DJ and produce, to the inner workings of the music industry, music production, distribution, and beyond. This holistic approach culminated in the birth of Deep Waves Music—a pioneering Electronic Dance Music platform based out of Miami, designed to disseminate the finest EDM to the world. Anchored by three key components:
— Deep Waves Music RADIO, a hybrid music radio and TV show spotlighting DJ/Producers worldwide.
— Deep Waves Music LABEL, is committed to producing and releasing cutting-edge EDM as well as music distribution.
— Deep Waves Music LIVE, featuring festival and club performances.
Within just three months, we brought Deep Waves Music to life. With solid legal foundations, our studios in Miami, and the hugely popular “Deep Waves Music Radio” show, my team and I poured our hearts into driving Deep Waves Music toward new horizons. We created original music, formed partnerships with talented artists around the globe, launched exciting releases through the Deep Waves Music Label, and began laying the groundwork for expansion within the Dance Music community.
Thanks to our extensive network, Deep Waves Music now connects with over 400 DJs, producers, record labels, and various production entities worldwide. This powerful blend of passion, talent, and strategic partnerships drives me and DWM to deliver top-notch EDM experiences and music to fans across the globe. Seamlessly bridging the gap between everyday life and the EDM sphere, Deep Waves Music embodies my unwavering commitment to uniting global music aficionados, fostering a shared passion for Electronic Dance Music that transcends all limits and boundaries.
As I reflect on my journey from the pulsating beats of EDM to the creation of Deep Waves Music, gratitude fills my heart. Each step has been a testament to perseverance and the beauty of following dreams.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey has certainly been challenging, filled with twists and turns that demanded enormous commitment, discipline, and consistency. The music industry is very competitive, and breaking into it requires overcoming numerous hurdles. From navigating the complexities of music production and distribution to building a loyal fan base and securing partnerships, every step was met with its own set of obstacles.
Maintaining momentum in an ever-evolving landscape also presented its challenges. Adapting to changes in trends, technology, and audience preferences requires constant innovation and a willingness to embrace new approaches. Balancing artistic vision with commercial viability was another ongoing struggle, as I aimed to stay true to my creative vision while also appealing to a broad audience.
Despite the obstacles, the journey was incredibly rewarding. Each challenge overcome has brought a sense of accomplishment and growth. Building Deep Waves Music from the ground up, and seeing it resonate with fans around the world, has been a testament to the power of perseverance and passion. While the road has been anything but smooth, the journey has been fulfilling beyond measure.

You’ll know me by my artist’s name, CPayne, but my real name is Carlos R. Peña. You could say I’ve had quite the journey—first in aviation, then banking, and now, music. They say the third time’s the charm, right? (Laughs).
I’m someone who loves life, and I believe it shows in everything I do. I pour my heart into even the smallest tasks. I’m a perfectionist, and once I commit to something, I don’t stop until it’s done. Passion is my driving force, and I bring that intensity to every aspect of my life, whether it’s the work I do with Deep Waves Music or the time I spend with my family, friends, and people in general. Love isn’t just an action; it’s a quality you embody, and I’ve found its expression in Electronic Dance Music.
As a music artist, I specialize in a genre of EDM called Mainstage, with a subgenre known as Bigroom. It’s characterized by high BPMs (Beats Per Minute) and an energetic, uplifting vibe.
I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built over the past 3 ½ years and the platform I’ve created for DJs, producers, and record labels worldwide to showcase their music. Watching Deep Waves Music grow from scratch has been an incredible journey, and seeing the momentum it’s gaining is truly gratifying.
What sets me and DWM apart is our unwavering commitment to our craft and the opportunities we provide for artists worldwide. We’re a one-stop-shop for EDM music, seamlessly integrating music production, promotion, and distribution, and offering a unique window into the EDM world.
Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In my experience, authenticity and genuine connections have been crucial in networking. Building meaningful relationships with fellow artists, industry professionals, and fans has laid the foundation for finding mentors and expanding my network.
My advice would be to seek out mentors who align with your values and aspirations and to actively participate in industry events, conferences, and online communities where you can connect with like-minded individuals. Leveraging social media platforms and reaching out to professionals you admire for advice or guidance can also be valuable strategies for expanding your network.
Overall, I’ve found that passion, persistence, and authentic relationships are key in both finding mentors and building a strong network within the music industry.
