Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Kais
Hi Beth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in the country riding horses and playing sports. In challenging my physical abilities I also experienced a lot of injuries, some severe. The year after I graduated college I survived a major auto accident that left me with many injuries and needing knee ligament reconstruction surgery.
At the time physicians and physical therapists did not know how my type of surgery would respond to rehabilitation so I decided to investigate and developed my own plan to not just return to 110% but to be 110% for the rest of my life.
That endless search for knowledge in optimizing human performance continues today and expands with each client I have the privilege of working with.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pain is a fantastic motivator with special challenges. Successfully navigating the road back to performance forces you to look within yourself, challenging all your strengths and overcoming all your weaknesses. You need to really listen to your intuition connecting the mind and body, so you know when to respect boundaries and when to break through them. This challenges the essence of who you are and who you want to become.
Having faced severe injury gives me a unique perspective into the recovery process – when to pull back and when to push. Most importantly, my own injures taught me to evaluate everything and always look for other methods. Each person and each injury require special, individualized attention to optimize the outcome. As a practitioner, you always need to listen to the client and find their solution.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Clients come to me with specific issues they want or need to address. The solution lies in the entirety of the body. The 20 minute question and answer session provides information about all aspects of their health that could possibly also contribute to their pain and dysfunction. The head to toe physical evaluation of the body, measurements and physical tests, reveal how the current issues impact body performance. The corrective activities restore alignment, relieve pain and initiate full recovery for optimal health and function.
In 2014 I decided to study with two of the top human performance schools at the same time – The Postural Restoration Institute and The Prague School of Rehabilitation (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization). 10 years later and so many additional courses later I am one of 74 Postural Restoration Trainers and one of just a few in the United States recognized by both institutions.
These techniques do not require any special equipment or location, can be performed anywhere and are designed for you to do yourself. Once aligned, applying the development principles to your sport, exercise or daily activities prevent returning to dysfunction and pain. I also provide additional follow-up and programming as the client desires.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I cannot fully express how much I love helping others overcome challenges and exceed expectations in their health journey. Turning all my injuries and surgeries into knowledge to help others is truly a blessing and calling that makes me the practitioner I am today and will make me an even better practitioner tomorrow.
