Rising Stars: Meet Barbara Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Silva.

Hi Barbara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I discovered yoga while working in a sales role in South Florida. The corporate world slowly left me feeling burnt out and unmotivated with the job. I began taking classes at a local studio to unwind from the stress and exhaustion.

At first, I would take a class once a week, and slowly began to practice every single day and even sneaking out of work early to catch a class with my favorite practitioner. That’s when I came to realize that yoga had become the most important part of my life. I enrolled in a 200 Hour of Yoga Teacher Training at Space Unknown with my teachers, Naya Rappoport and Salila Thuy, to deepen my practice. I now teach at a local studio in Delray, Space Unknown.

Besides Yoga, another big part of my life includes modeling and working with online brands/products. I am passionate about sharing things I think could genuinely help enhance the lives of others- and wanted to create a space where I can do so by partnering up with different companies to promote healthy living and lifestyle to my followers.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. Having to juggle a full-time job while building a following to grow as a model/influencer and doing my 200-hour YTT and taking several classes to deepen my practice was EXTREMELY tough. I barely had time for myself to breathe in between.

I had to sacrifice so many things for myself to be able to focus on basically 3 jobs at once! I had to learn how to be great at time management to do so. And find ways to still make time to take care of myself and my mental health also.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known for my approach to yoga, focusing on helping others thrive in life by nurturing the mind, body, and soul, and for my authentic, non-judgmental teaching style and creative sequencing to balance strength and flexibility.

I am also known for promoting healthy living and lifestyle via the influencing world through social media. I am most proud of being able to be able to stand and represent my way of living and thinking through different outlets. Always living in my truth through different avenues. I think that’s what sets me apart from others.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to continue to grow as an individual and in my practice, and in the process make an impact on the community. Helping others live in their truth by doing what they love.
