Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Browne.
Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am still fairly new to the charcuterie scene from a professional standpoint– but I started out with a love for hosting dinner parties and picnics for my friends and family. Soon that turned into making charcuterie boards and boxes as gifts for special occasions and birthdays, and with enough encouragement from my loved ones, I decided to start my small business! I come from a professional background in art and design, so it was like finding another artistic medium to work in, which came in the form of food styling and preparation. I’ve loved every moment since starting Peach Jam Boards– from researching flavor profiles to taste testing– even the challenges along the way have helped me grow so much in the past year!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has definitely been some trial and error during my journey. It can be hard establishing your brand as a charcuterie business when it is so easy to pick up a pre-made platter from your local grocery store. I strive to provide unique tasting and visual experiences for my customers. Your sight has just as much impact on your meal as does taste. Also, sourcing ingredients can be a bit of a challenge– it’s always heartbreaking when you find out your favorite snack brand is out of stock or discontinued!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating custom and personalized charcuterie experiences! After close consultation with my customer, I work to build beautiful boards and grazing tables unique to any event. I take into consideration the client’s favorite foods, taste combinations, even food restrictions if applicable. I try to create something that will be enjoyed by everyone in their party since charcuterie is meant to be shared. It’s as much of social experience as any– after all, blueberry goat cheese can be a great conversation starter!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Get started in your local community! One of my favorite ways to network and get your name out there is to join vending events in your city. Some can be themed– like featuring young women entrepreneurs or holiday markets– but each features all different kinds of people. That can be so exciting! You never know who you will meet or who will potentially love what you do.
