Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Ivanova.
Hi Anna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was a child my favorite pastime was to endlessly look at fashion magazines and draw models in beautiful clothes or draw a face with graphite, and then paint makeup with bright colored pencils. When I got my degree in Art, I began to think about how I can put fashion and drawing together. I had no idea there is a professional fashion illustrator. And decided to study to be a makeup artist.
I graduated from makeup school and took several courses afterward and worked successfully as a makeup artist for over 10 years. But I continued to draw and not only fashion. Since I love cooking, different recipes, and the art of food in general, I began to draw food as well. Now I draw food illustrations more than fashion and I am so happy to do that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From the outside, my professional path looks easy, but it is not at all. There are always many doubts, insecurities, and difficulties in finding time and energy since I have two small kids with a difference of 2 years. But it is very important that what makes my way much easier is that I do what I love the most!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As I said, I am an illustrator. I used to draw fashion illustrations, but now I’m more interested in food art. I draw menus for restaurants, cookbooks, recipes, prints for clothing and accessories, and much more. I’m always open to new opportunities.

New Year’s Eve, the smell of mandarins, and my whole family together. And also the forest behind our house, morning dew on the grass, fresh wild strawberries, grandmother’s potato pies, my dog…
