Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra and Alexey, creators behind Un Par de Ales.
Hi Alexandra and Alexey, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It all started during the pandemic. The world stopped, and we (me and my husband Alexey) were suddenly locked up at home. We are both ballet dancers and lockdown left us bored and uninspired. Because of this, we started looking for ways to stay creative and connect with different audiences and that’s when we decided to open a TikTok account.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not smooth at all! Social media is often seen as an easy job but what people see is the end result of hours and hours of work, brainstorming, and editing. More than once we have been frustrated with hate comments and the performance of our videos and this usually leads to burnout. In this industry, we learned that there are many ups and downs and you have to focus on doing what you love and sharing it with the world. The rest will happen naturally.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We love to make videos that bring smiles to people’s faces. We love creating short vertical format videos like the ones you see in Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It’s amazing how just 15 seconds can help make someone’s day a little bit better. Even though our journey to get to where we are has not been easy one, we are so proud of where we are today and incredibly grateful for all the opportunities we have received because of our videos. We feel so lucky that we get to do what we love for a living. and call it our “job”.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We are so grateful for the support we have received from our parents and families. Not only during our journey exploring the world of social media but for introducing us to the world of dance. We believe that being trained as ballet dancers is the foundation to our success in this platform. It taught us not only how to dance, but also to never give up, the power of persistence and discipline. In our opinion, these virtues are the key to success in any industry. We are also so grateful to all the people that watch our videos and have been following and supporting us from the very beginning.
