Rising Stars: Meet Alexandra Bendayan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Bendayan.

Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Picnic Haven was founded on November 11, 2020. We are nearing our one year anniversary and can’t be more thrilled and grateful for our community’s support.

During the pandemic, there was renaissance of ideas, entrepreneurs, and creativity. I was part of that renaissance. One day, I saw an Instagram post of beach picnics in Australia. I immediately became obsessed with the aesthetic, experience, and opportunity of opening a similar concept in Miami. As many of us, I was going through a very difficult time in 2020. I felt trapped in a situation with no light on the other side of the tunnel. Many great ideas are born out of difficult times because people are pushed to their limits. Some fall, but others rise and stand taller than they did before. With so much chaos in the world, I craved to create something beautiful. I had a vision of how my picnics would look like, but it took months to achieve the “perfect look.” My business saved me in several ways, and I hope it continues to provide its special magic for my community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing that has great value is ever acquired with ease. Every business, journey, and dream, is always tested with its challenges. For my business, there was a lot of trial and error. Our place of business is on the sand, grass, and nature. I learned how to work with different elements (wind, sun, and rain) instead of working against them. The Picnic Haven will always continue to learn, evolve, and adapt in our ever-changing society. We all learn from our mistakes, and that’s an essential phase of any business because it creates for your foundation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in offering unique picnic experiences that bring our community together in a safe environment. From weddings, proposals, bachelorette parties, or anything in between, we are here to create the picnic of your dreams!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Life is a balance, and therefore every business has good and bad luck. There are perfect sunny days that our guests get to enjoy the outdoors, but there are also days with thunderstorms that delay many reservations. We do everything humanly possible to work around poor weather conditions but nature/higher forces will always control. Instead of saying it was an “unlucky” day, I see it as a learning opportunity to reflect, tweak, and apply for the future. It’s important to have a positive outlook on life, especially when you own a business. Not everyday will be great, and that’s ok!
