Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Collins
Hi Alexa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a young girl, I told my parents that I loved being in front of a camera and that I loved the art of photography. They took me down to Miami and helped me sign with a small boutique agency, where I booked a few small jobs. After years of pushing to be in the industry, I decided to take a break and go off to college to pursue another direction in my life. Throughout college, I found myself getting very familiar with social media, hopping on all platforms and creating content for fun. I was NEVER good at academics, but I always knew I had the drive and work ethic to succeed in business. Somehow, my content stuck with a small audience and grew over the years. I was able to grow a brand behind my name and started creating content while finally being able to earn from it. 3 years into college, I took the risky move of coming back to South Florida to pursue my modeling and social media career. My parents were not happy about this, but I took the leap and saw something bigger. I saw the power and the growth of social media usage as I got older, and understood that it’s so much more than just an app, it can be an entire business and a full time job. I was able to make a long career out of being on social media and posting my life to my audience. As public as that may be, it was the best decision I’ve ever made and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve been able to monetize and create collections, brands, and have been fortunate enough to travel the world and meet some incredible people. I don’t know where I’d be without my longstanding and loyal followers. It truly makes me feel grateful every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. I remember when I first started off and I was working for free, or just free product. I’ve always been very independent but that was a struggle to learn how to get by in the process of building my brand. There were times when I didn’t know how I’d make rent, or a car payment. I always pushed and pushed to make this work knowing that it was truly what I loved doing the most.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full time social media content creator. I’ve been known for creating content for lifestyle brands, beauty brands, travel and hotels, and posting about my marriage and my relationship. I would say I’m most proud of how organic & real I am with my audience. I think that really resonates with people and makes them feel closer to you even if it’s through a phone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck (whether good or bad) has played a pretty large role in shaping many aspects of my life and in business. Good luck such as being in the right place at the right time has opened doors for me in my business for sure. Bad luck such as uncontrollable setbacks or natural disasters (such as Covid, storms, etc) have definitely played a role in the effects of running a business, but I always look at them as being roadblocks which make me stronger and more resilient.
