Rising Stars: Meet Albania Sofia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albania Sofia.

Hi Albania, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The artistic, extravagant, court-like spectacles have always caught my eye. From an early age, I knew I wanted to be an artist, there was not a doubt in my soul. I was born in Burgos, Spain, to a Dominican mother and a Spanish father. At an early age, I moved with my family to Miami, where I grew up and finished my studies, obtaining a BA in Communications from FIU. Shortly after that, I made my way to Bali, where I volunteered for two months as an English teacher and then lived in different cities such as New York, LA, and Madrid. I have always been involved in the world of the arts from a very early age; jumping from musical theatre, television and later on becoming a recording artist. Since an early age, writing has been a passion of mine, and it is through this outlet and my adoration for music that I discovered my passion. My sounds are a mix of a number of styles and cultures, reflecting my upbringing and the feeling I’ve always carried with me of being a third-culture kid.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think my only challenge is getting out of my own way at times. I have found that if you are honest, passionate, and dedicated, you will see the fruits of your labor. So I always try to show up as my best self at all times and live life with complete authenticity. I am very mindful of what my inner dialogue sounds like and try to love myself the most when I am feeling down. I expect a lot from myself and sometimes want really big outcomes, but that is where the practice of patience comes in, and I remind myself that the little wins are just as important as the big ones. I always remember, “Happiness is not at the top of the mountains but in how to climb it.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/song-writer
