Today we’d like to introduce you to Alain Pierre-Louis.
Alain, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My business, Osiris Crystals, is something that is intrinsic to me. From a very young age, the natural and spiritual worlds have always intrigued me. I come from a very spiritual healing family and a long line of geologists, engineers, and educators. I would say my story started with my very first rock collection. My grandfather, who was a geologist in Haiti, used to bring me to the science store to buy tumbles, and it started with a tiger’s eye. The luster and bold colors got me intrigued into the world of crystals and since then, it’s been an ever growing, knowledge-filled journey. My passion always lied in the sea and led me to pursue a career in Marine Biology. Working in a marine environment, my love of the natural world expanded as well as my spirituality and the belief in the healing powers of the natural world. Crystals were always present in my spiritual practices and it wasn’t until my aunt, another geologist haha, showed me some of the healing properties of my crystals and introduced me to reiki. I always wanted a business but because of my demanding schedule, before the pandemic, I always pushed the thought aside. It wasn’t until my job temporarily laid me off, I got to thinking, this would be a good time to start. Then I wondered, “if I get my job back, how would I manage”? The results are what you see here before you. I currently work full-time as an environmental educator and have a business. If you asked me two years ago, do you see yourself with a business and a full-time job, my answer would have been very crass. I am very proud of Osiris Crystals. I have done pop-up shops all around South Florida and just recently launched a website. I look forward to a very promising future with Osiris Crystals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It surprisingly has been a pretty smooth ride. I have been fortunate enough to surround myself with positive people that motivate me to keep pushing when things seem a little difficult.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am what you would call a renaissance man. I work as an environmental educator, teaching students and adults alike about the natural wonders of Florida. I also am a lover of the arts. Painting, photography, and music primarily hand drums are all in my repertoire of creative avenues. I mentioned, spiritually I am connected to nature and my ancestors. I am an initiated priest in Vodou, which I am always proud to mention because of the negative stigmas you may hear about Vodou. I love to break down misconceptions. Vodou is just an appreciation of the natural forces, respect for the ancestors, and a dance. I am very proud of my Haitian heritage and education is key. My spirituality has helped my business in a way to connect with the natural forces of healing my crystals have to offer and ultimately help and heal my customers.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are a lot of people who I would thank for the success of my business. First and foremost, my business would not be here if it were not for my fairy crystal godmother, Michelle, owner of OceanJasperBlueMinerals. Thanks to her guidance and advice, Osiris Crystals was able to grow exponentially and take off online. From my growth online, more local pop-up shows started to notice and request more me to sell at shows around the community. Angels like Mrly from Unlocked Artisty LLC. in West Palm Beach and Dani from TinyStageMedia in Miami saw my potential and put me out in the forefront of their programs. From then I was not only able to engage a large following online but also heal locally in the community. Venues like The HippieHaven under the direction of Mula and TheHausLounge in Lake Worth really helped with growth as well. I am forever grateful for people like them and of course, my clients who continuously support and grow my business.
