Today we’d like to introduce you to Pablo Bogdan
Hi Pablo, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Restoring a Landmark: The Revival of Fabian Burgos’ Velocity Series Mural in Brickell
My name is Pablo Bogdan and I represent artist Fabian Burgos in USA.
I’ve always been passionate about art, and that passion started at a very young age, thanks to my father, who was an antique and art collector. My journey into the art world really began in Buenos Aires, where I started working as an art advisor and art merchant, primarily facilitating connections between Buenos Aires and Miami.
My background is actually in law—I began my legal career in 2006—but I quickly found myself blending that experience into the art world. I took on the role of artists management and art advisor with the same ethical commitment I had as a lawyer: representing the best interests of both artists and collectors with a long-term vision. Over time, I built strong relationships with artists, collectors, art producers, and fellow gallerists.
In Brickell, Miami, a vibrant piece of Miami’s urban landscape is projected to be revived as the Velocity Series Mural, a striking work by renowned Argentine artist Fabian Burgos, will soon undergo restoration in the heart of Brickell. This large-scale mural, recognized as one of Florida’s most significant public art installations, is set to reclaim its original brilliance soon.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A Landmark in Miami’s Art Scene that needs to be restored.
Originally created in 2015, the Velocity Series Mural has long stood as a testament to Miami’s thriving contemporary art culture. Situated in Brickell, the financial district known for its sleek skyscrapers and cosmopolitan energy, the mural’s bold geometric patterns and electrifying colors have made it a signature feature of the area. Fabian Burgos, widely known for his expertise in abstract and geometric compositions, designed the piece to infuse an urban setting with dynamic visual energy, embodying movement, speed, and modernity.
Fabian Burgos belongs to the group of artists from Annina Nosei Gallery. Some of the names in the group are Jean Michel Basquiat, Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer or Jeff Koons.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Restoration Project and the commitment of the artist to personally direct it along with the neighbors support makes me very proud.
The ambitious restoration effort, led by Burgos himself, aims to restore the mural’s vibrant hues and intricate details, which have faded over the years due to Miami’s intense sun, weather conditions and other external agents. The project involves an expert team of restorers, working meticulously to match the original colors and maintain the integrity of the artist’s vision.
“We are thrilled to bring this landmark mural back to life,” said Fabian Burgos recently, “…public art is an essential part of a city’s identity, and this piece in particular has been a visual staple in Brickell. The restoration will not only preserve the artist’s work but also reinvigorate the cultural landscape of the district.”
What matters most to you?
The legacy is the most important that is why I celebrate Miami’s Community Commitment to Public Art in this case.
Miami has long been a city that embraces artistic expression, from the internationally acclaimed Art Basel Miami Beach to the renowned street art of Wynwood. The restoration of the Velocity Series Mural is yet another example of the city’s necessity to preserving and celebrating public art.
With its striking interplay of color and form, Burgos’ work continues to capture the essence of Miami—bold, innovative, and constantly evolving. The restoration of the Velocity Series Mural is not just about preserving a painting; it’s about keeping the spirit of the city alive through its artistic identity.
Looking Ahead
The mural’s completion will be marking a new chapter in its legacy. As locals and visitors will watch the transformation unfold, anticipation is building for the day when the mural once again stands in full splendor, offering an inspiring reminder of the power of public art.
For those eager to witness the process and learn more about the project, a behind-the-scenes look at the original creation of the mural will be released at my gallery website and other social media platforms.
Stay tuned as Brickell welcomes back one of its most defining artistic landmarks, proving once again that Miami is a city where art and urban life intertwine seamlessly.
