Nicolas Benavides Jimenez on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nicolas Benavides Jimenez. Check out our conversation below.

Nicolas , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
For those who know me, it’s no secret that traveling brings me the greatest joy. But it’s not just about escaping, unwinding, or expanding my view of the world though it does all of that.
It’s much deeper than that.

Travel allows me to pause and truly reflect on who I am as a person. It becomes a mirror, a moment of introspection that reconnects me with myself and with the world in the most unexpected ways.

There’s something magical about feeling the breeze on a hidden beach, walking among towering monuments that make you feel small and amazed, or crossing paths with strangers and learning about their lives, their stories.

And then… there’s the food.
The way each region expresses itself through flavors and colors is, for me, one of the most delicious parts of the journey. Tasting local dishes, savoring spices I’ve never tried, and sharing meals that carry generations of tradition those are the moments that stay with me.

That’s why I travel.
Not just to move, but to feel. To connect. To remember how beautifully diverse and rich this world is.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Nicolas Benavides Jimenez, better known on social media as @eltalnick—a person passionate about creating experiences that connect people with the best the world has to offer.

I’m currently working in Marketing, while also studying Business Communications and Marketing in Colombia. I work for a Spanish multinational company based in the United States, and I also take on freelance projects for clients who need marketing services for their businesses.

Here’s my website: https://mktclicks.com/
It’s a project born from the desire to support the growth of entrepreneurs and small business owners.

What makes my services special?
I bring marketing experiences tailored to both Latino and American markets. I don’t just offer a service—I offer solutions grounded in empathy, design, and functionality.

Every project I take on carries something from my own journey:
my experience managing my personal social media, the brands I’ve worked with, and my belief in building close, quality-driven relationships with clients who trust us to help them grow.

Where it all started…
My journey began in Colombia when a local brand asked me to be the face of their new ice cream campaign. They had seen my content recommending their product on my social platforms, and that simple moment sparked a whole world of social media, brand partnerships, and creative marketing.

Since then, I’ve worked with well-known names like Gillette, Coca-Cola, Ultra, José Cuervo, Walmart, Smoothie King, and various restaurants—turning passion into professional growth.

What I’m working on now
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my client portfolio and continuing to grow as a freelance marketing and communications professional. My goal is to become one of the top freelancers in my field—and I’m excited for what’s coming next.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my story and what I do.
Let’s keep building something meaningful together.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I used to believe that dreams were easy to reach—that all you had to do was dream them, and they would magically appear.
But I’ve come to realize that while dreaming is important, you also have to work for them. You need to be consistent, keep them present in your mind, and attract them with intention for them to become reality.

They won’t just appear by some miracle or divine intervention.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
If there was someone who truly listened to me when I was 17, it was a very special person.
They gave me great advice—and even gifted me a book I will never forget: the book of Saint Dominic Savio.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
People who know me often say I’m authentic, creative, and full of contagious energy.
They’d say I’m always dreaming big—but with my feet firmly on the ground—and that I’m not afraid to work hard for what I want. That I’m passionate about helping others grow, detail-oriented, spontaneous, and that when something excites me, I give it my all.

They’d also describe me as someone curious, who loves to learn, connect with new cultures, and find inspiration in the most unexpected places. That I know how to laugh at life, but I’m also present when someone truly needs support.

And most would probably say I always have a new idea up my sleeve—and that if I’m part of a team, something creative and unexpected is definitely going to happen.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
I know something is beyond my reach when, despite my consistent effort, it stops being a matter of dedication and starts depending entirely on factors outside of my control.

I notice it when I no longer have any influence over the outcome—when there’s no action, preparation, or conversation that can move the situation forward. In that moment, I realize it’s wiser not to force it, but to let go, trust the process, and redirect my energy toward what I can control.

But that doesn’t mean giving up. To me, recognizing a limit isn’t failure—it’s maturity. And often, what seems out of reach just needs a different approach… or a bit more time.

I forgot to mention that I was a contestant on a show produced by Univision, filmed in Uruguay but broadcast nationwide in the U.S. for the Hispanic community. The show is called “¿Quién Caerá?”, and I finished in 4th place.
