Nasima Khondekar shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Nasima, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
What makes me lose track of time is my daily meditation practice — disconnecting from the outer world and journeying inward. Breathing in gratitude, I rest in the space of the unknown, trusting the Universe completely as I return to my heart. In that sacred stillness, everything exists in perfect harmony — beauty, love, and pure happiness. My dream is to see others experience this space of true connection to the totality of life, where we remember that we are all part of the Universe of love. The heart is the center of all creation —This is the practice of timeless beauty. This is how I reconnect to the essence of life, which is always present within each one of us.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The Art of Beauty Beyond Hair 🌸🌿—
Most people know me as Sima, though my full name is Nasima Khondekar — the heart behind Naturally Sima Salon in Boca Raton, Florida. For over eleven years, my work has been devoted to one simple truth: beauty is a sacred reflection of presence. What began as an organic hair-color studio has evolved into something much deeper — a living expression of devotion, artistry, and alignment with nature called Flora Veda Beauty Experience.
I am an artist of life and a beauty guide — one who holds space for others to reconnect with themselves through the sensory language of nature. Every service is designed as a mindful ritual. Whether it’s a floral foot bath prepared with colorful flowers, Himalayan pink salt, and herbs in a handcrafted copper bowl, or a botanical scalp-detox treatment that restores natural shine and balance, each offering invites stillness, gratitude, and harmony.
My journey has been one of transformation — from mastering organic hair color to traveling across the world, learning from elders, honoring nature, and the sacred wisdom of different cultures. I don’t claim to heal others; I am healing myself through the beauty I create. In that devotion, I’ve found that when we honor our roots and open our hearts — beauty flows naturally from within.
What makes my brand unique is its soul. I don’t choose my clients — they choose me. When there is alignment, I serve. Each person who walks through my door becomes part of a shared vibration of gratitude and joy, in that space creativity flows naturally. Together we honor the ancient and the modern — the timeless essence of beauty that lives within all of us.
Today, Flora Veda Beauty Experience: Roots to Crown represents the next chapter of this devotion — blending earth, artistry, and intention to help humanity remember that beauty is not outside of us; it is our natural state of being.
What I’m Working On Now- I am currently offering online beauty sessions designed to help clients reconnect with their natural essence through mindful beauty practices. Each session is held via Zoom, where I gently guide clients through a relaxing and intentional beauty ritual using natural ingredients such as coconut oil, argan oil, hibiscus, saffron, and other botanical blends they may already have at home.
Through the art of presence, soft sound, and breathing techniques, these 45-minute to one-hour sessions create a calming space for clients to slow down and nurture their hair and skin. The focus is on relaxation, presence, and self-care — helping clients feel refreshed, centered, and confident in their natural beauty.
I’ve noticed that when women feel more balanced and at ease, they naturally bring that calm energy into their daily life — inspiring greater harmony and appreciation for the beauty around them. This work reflects my purpose and devotion to sharing beauty as a mindful practice of gratitude and connection. I also host beauty retreats for my existing clients.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What often breaks the bond between people are the unseen differences — our backgrounds, experiences, values, and the environments that shape who we are. Each person carries their own story and way of seeing the world. When we forget to honor that, we create distance. But when we remember that every soul walks a unique path, we begin to restore respect and understanding.
True unity begins in the heart — beyond culture, belief, and personality. When we connect to our own heart, we also connect to the heart of the planet and the rhythm of the universe. In that space, we remember that love is what unites us all.
In India, this sacred connection is known as Prana.
In Ancient Egypt, it is known as Ka.
In English, we recognize it as life force energy — the breath that gives us life. When we breathe consciously, we reconnect to this essence, to the living beauty of Oneness.
Through my travels and the wisdom carried through my family lineage, I’ve come to see that all of humanity — and all life — is woven together through this simple breath of love. It is the divine intelligence that flows through everything, reminding us that beneath all differences, we are one. So, in the truest sense, what really restores our bond is the beauty of our heart. 🌸🌿💖
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
The dream of falling in love once felt like a fairytale to me. I used to believe that love was something you simply fell into — something that would complete your heart. But life taught me that love is not about falling; it’s about alignment — alignment of values, integrity, respect, and the way two souls honor one another.
When you love someone, you give them a certain power — a sacred trust — and you hope it will never be used against you. In my case, it was. That experience broke something inside me for a time, yet I hold no blame. I’ve learned to carry forgiveness in my heart, understanding that each person’s healing is their own choice.
What once felt like heartbreak became a turning point — a path that led me to here now, a beautiful space to be. I spent years in solitude, meditating, reconnecting with nature, and learning to live simply, with gratitude. Through this journey, I found peace and realized that life’s true beauty lies in presence and surrender. Life is intelligent on its own — we must trust in divine timing.
I have learned pain, when embraced, transforms into wisdom. It helped me see that real empowerment comes when we release the past, wish others well, and return to the peace within our own heart.
Now I believe love is within us. We are whole and complete. This is true empowerment — owning our energy and living in balance and harmony. From this space, we naturally attract a partner aligned with our values, allowing love to be honored at a soul level when it manifests.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I will start with my values-
I welcome every person with an open heart. Honesty and integrity are the best practices for a free soul —
they guide my creation, relationships, and my service to others.
Every exchange is an opportunity to honor truth, love, and presence.
For a long time, the beauty industry has been built on the belief that beauty is something external — something to be achieved, perfected, or pursued. We’ve been conditioned to think that transformation means changing how we look on the outside, rather than awakening who we already are within. Many of the practices and trends, though creative and artistic, have taken us away from our authentic essence — encouraging people to mold themselves into society’s projection of what is acceptable or desirable.
Yet, if we look deeper into the roots of beauty, it was never meant to separate us from ourselves. In ancient civilizations like Egypt, beauty rituals were sacred reminders of divine connection — expressions of reverence to the light within. The use of oils, herbs, adornments, and art were ways to honor the divine image in which we are created.
Through my own journey — from Egypt to India, Morocco, Costa Rica, and beyond — I’ve come to understand that beauty, in its truest form, is art born from the heart. It is an expression of our inner radiance, not a mask to hide behind. Makeup, color, and style are beautiful tools of self-expression when they arise from presence, love, and authenticity. But when they lead us away from our essence, we lose the very magic they were meant to reveal.
True beauty brings us closer to ourselves — not farther away. It reminds us that everything in life has purpose, that the universe moves with divine precision, and that each of us carries a unique light meant to shine in its own way.
I believe the next chapter for the beauty world is one of evolution — where we move from external validation to inner alignment, from competition to creativity, from imitation to individuality. When beauty becomes an act of presence and gratitude, it unites us rather than divides us.
It’s time we remember that real beauty lives in the heart — in love, respect, and acceptance for ourselves and one another. That is the art I choose to serve every day.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
Legacy: The Immortality of the Heart
I do believe immortality is real — not as an idea, but as the essence of our soul that never dies. And perhaps that’s why I wouldn’t want to build anything new. Instead, I would want to undo everything that isn’t true me, legacy isn’t about monuments or structures; it’s about living my highest truth in simplicity and authenticity.
I asked myself this same question nearly ten years ago, and my answer hasn’t changed. What matters to me is not what I create with my hands, but what I ignite in people’s hearts. Through the years of my service, I hope I’ve created a space of peace, kindness, and reflection within those I’ve touched.
If I could leave anything eternal, it would be this — that people remember me not for what I built, but for how I made them feel. That they forgive me for any pain I may have caused, and hold close the moments where I helped them see their own light. In the end, the only true legacy is love — and the quiet ripple it leaves behind in the hearts of others.
