Meet Zyanna Ashby of So Sadity Lash Co. in Plantation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zyanna Ashby.

Zyanna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In January of 2019, I was working at the bank as a teller. Everyday I would wake up feeling like I was missing something. Going to work 8+ hrs a day Monday -Friday. I felt like I was stuck in a trans. I wanted more.

One day as I was getting my lashes done, I was talking to my lash tech she told me all the benefits of becoming self-employed.

After that conversation, it was time to figure out what I wanted to do! As I was looking in the mirror at my lashes, it dawned on me.

I realized that every time I’d get up to look at my lashes, I felt beautiful!

So I decided to take a lash class. I’ll admit it wasn’t as easy as I thought it was. However, I stayed consistent and practiced a lot. As time went on, it definitely got easier.

May of 2019 – Literally only two months into lashing, I noticed I was spending LESS TIME & making MORE MONEY doing lashes then I was working at the bank.

No lie! 2 hrs doing lashes I was making at least $120 while at the bank I was making $130 for the entire 8 hrs MINUS taxes

June of 2019 – I decided to take that leap of faith and quit my job to do lashes full time!

I didn’t regret my decision NOT ONCE! Not even on slow days.

I think of it like this I’m getting paid to provide a service, to meet new people, laugh, talk and enhance one’s beauty! I really feel that I have the best job!

Has it been a smooth road?
I can honestly say it has been a pretty smooth road for the most part. I’d say the hardest part about my job is deciding what style and length to give my client. It’s literally like choosing a color at the nail salon!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the So Sadity Lash Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a licensed esthetician. I specialize in lashes! I offer waxing and facials as well.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five years, I plan to open up a lash and beauty bar.
