Meet Zuleika Viera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zuleika Viera.

Hi Zuleika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics over a decade ago. That was my first makeup job, while I was on the counter I started to make a lot of connections with clients and started to build my portfolio, doing a lot of photoshoots and working as an assistant for many years to a few celebrity makeup artist. After years of building my portfolio, my network and my clientele, I decided to start teaching other upcoming artists on how to become successful in the beauty industry. I opened my makeup school and studio in 2017, and ever since my career has been amazing. I have a professional team of 15 artists that I’ve trained and we travel to different cities in the states and internationally to work on Major Tv productions, fashion shows and campaigns. At this moment, my focus on my career is to keep working as a celebrity makeup artist, teach my workshops a few times a year and continue to support my team by giving them amazing opportunities.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, I had to get into debt to be able to buy my tools, makeup kit and to be able to invest into my career. One of the most recent challenges I had was closing my makeup studio and school for 8 months during the pandemic, it was such a hard time, I had to pay my rent and bills from my business meanwhile I was not able to work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a celebrity makeup artist and beauty educator, I specialize in natural glam and perfect skin. I am known for my work internationally with the biggest celebrities in Latin America, I am the director of hair and makeup for different Tv Shows.

I am most proud of my foundation “Beauty Against Cancer” we teach people battling with cancer how to do their own makeup, makeup is such a powerful tool, it helps people with cancer feel like themselves again, when they look good they feel better.

In my career I’d say my work etiquette, I am a person that my word is my contract and that is something that really sets me apart specially working on production work, I am reliable, confident, I always go the extra mile, I pay attention to detail.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan on expanding my brand, having different studios in different cities and continue to teach around the world.
