Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ylondra Marrero. Ylondra was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Denia Bent.
Hi Ylondra, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
At the age of 14, I spend countless hours viewing pages upon pages of magazines with photos of a woman who became my inspiration, Cindy Crawford. Her appearance was so fresh, vibrant, and beautiful. It was at that time that I realized that I too could stand in front of the camera.
Soon after, I attended an open cast for the Barbizon School of Modeling and met lots of talented people which solidified my desire to pursue the field of modeling.
To me, modeling was an escape from the world where I felt free and happy.
I was fortunate enough to collaborate with many different designers. Through this collaboration, I met designers who allowed me to experience the path of their inspiration and through this experience, I learned how to view fashion from a variety of perspectives. By understanding their passion for the design process; allowed me to be a better model when wearing their clothes.
Over the last several years I participated in photo shoots, runway shows, promotional events, and spokesmodel campaigns, and have been featured in several magazines.
And if being a single mother, working as a model, and collaborating with designers from all over the world was not enough I still felt the need to give back to those less fortunate and volunteered with such charitable organizations as the Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society-Relay for Life in addition to several others.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
In 2019 I founded JEM Fab Fashions. Which I hope will serve to provide an avenue for everyone to realize how special they are through fashion. I promote self-love and self-acceptance. Reassuring everyone how beautiful they are no matter the raise, color, or shape. You can find my work at JEMFABFASHIONS.COM
Denia Bent and 14th Avenue Photography have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Denia Bent and 14th Avenue Photography and your experience with them.
I was looking for a photographer for my 3rd annual Fashion Gala and I came across Denia’s website through a mutual friend. She instantly wowed me. Her vision is to promote self-love just like me. At that moment I knew I had to meet the woman behind the lens. Denia is an amazing photographer, professional, and goes above and beyond my expectations. I was so pleased with her work that I requested for her to be my photographer for a magazine based out of New York City where I was displaying my new designs. Her captivating photo made the front cover of a high-end magazine.
I am in awe of all her amazing work, I even hired her to take pictures of my daughter’s Quinceañera.
I recommend Denia Bent to anyone and everyone.
