Meet Wilkenson Chery of Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilkenson Chery.

Hi Wilkenson, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The foundation of WilCloset was laid when I connected with my now-business partner, Brandon Lee Germain, during our studies at Broward College. Brandon, who brought valuable experience from his tenure with several established companies in the field, identified a potential in the closet industry and proposed the venture.

While my initial background was not in this specific sector, Brandon’s proven expertise and strategic vision for delivering high-quality services provided the necessary credibility and framework to launch. For the past four years, we have worked diligently to establish a robust company foundation. We have cultivated a strong social presence on key platforms like Google, Facebook, and Instagram, anchored by our central website, wilcloset.miam.

Our current market penetration strategy is effectively centered on direct-to-client engagement through door-to-door sales and leveraging the trusted networks of family and friends, which has successfully fueled our initial growth phase.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Breakdown for a Business Plan or Internal Strategy Meeting:
Challenge 1: Client Consistency

Professional Framing: “The sales cycle can be inconsistent, relying heavily on direct outreach and organic referrals. Our key initiative is to develop a more diversified and reliable lead generation engine.”

Implied Solution: Investing in digital marketing (SEO for “closet Miami,” targeted social media ads) and building partnerships with realtors or contractors.

Challenge 2: Logistics (Warehouse)

Professional Framing: “Our current operational model lacks a centralized logistics hub, which creates inefficiencies in inventory control and project fulfillment. Securing dedicated storage space is a prerequisite for scaling our service capacity.”

Implied Solution: Budgeting for a small commercial storage unit or shared warehouse space as the next strategic investment.

Challenge 3: Monthly Expenses (Car, Insurance, Materials)

Professional Framing: “Maintaining control over our operating expenses—particularly variable costs like transportation and materials—is essential for healthy profit margins. We are implementing more rigorous budgeting and cost-tracking measures.”

Implied Solution: Exploring bulk purchasing for materials, dedicated business insurance policies, and scheduled vehicle maintenance plans to mitigate unexpected costs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a Miami-based custom closet and home organization solutions company. In short, we design, build, and install fully customized closet systems that transform chaotic spaces into functional, beautiful, and personalized areas.

What we do & specialize in:
We specialize in space-maximizing storage solutions for every room—from master closets and pantries to home offices and garages. Our process begins with a complimentary in-home consultation, where we measure your space and discuss your specific needs. We then craft a 3D design for your approval, using high-quality materials like laminated wood and plywood, and handle the professional installation from start to finish.

What we are known for:
We have built a strong reputation for two key things: our client-centric process and our robust digital presence. We are known for taking the time to truly understand how our clients live and use their space. This is reflected in the hundreds of positive reviews that have made us a highly-rated and trusted local business on platforms like Google and Facebook.

What I am most proud of:
I am incredibly proud of the tangible difference we make in our clients’ daily lives. We don’t just install shelves; we reduce morning stress, create calm, and bring order to chaos. Hearing a client say, “You’ve given me my peace of mind back,” or “I can finally find everything!” is what truly fuels our passion. Building a business from the ground up that delivers that level of satisfaction is our greatest achievement.

What sets us apart:
Three key things differentiate WilCloset in the market:

Our Accessible & Personal Approach: Unlike larger contractors, we are the owners, designers, and often the installers. This direct involvement ensures an unparalleled level of care, accountability, and quality control from the first phone call to the final walk-through.

Our Foundational Strategy: Our unique door-to-door and referral model means we are deeply embedded in the communities we serve. We don’t just operate in Miami; we are a part of it. This builds a level of trust that bigger companies struggle to achieve.

Our Resilience: We have navigated the significant start-up challenges of logistics and cash flow management firsthand. This has given us a lean, efficient, and highly motivated operation that fiercely values every client and every project.

At our core, we believe a well-organized space can improve your quality of life, and we are proud to be the team Miami trusts to deliver it.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
You know, the most surprising thing about being in the closet organization business isn’t the wild things we find in people’s clutter—though we have stories!—it’s the profound emotional transformation we get to witness.

Most clients hire us expecting a physical upgrade: new shelves, better drawers, more efficient space. And we deliver that. But what consistently surprises us is the powerful emotional weight that is lifted. We’ve had clients literally cry when they see their new closet. It’s not about the plywood or the hardware; it’s about the liberation from daily chaos.

We’ve become accidental therapists in a way. The state of one’s personal space is often a reflection of their mental space. By clearing the physical clutter, we help clear a path for clarity, reduced anxiety, and a renewed sense of control. We didn’t start this business to be psychologists, but we’ve learned that our true product isn’t just a custom closet—it’s peace of mind.

That’s a surprise and a privilege we never take for granted.
