Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Brown and Jahiya Jeter.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
May 2009, 10 years ago, I had my very first event. It was a charity fashion show. That is how I stepped into the realm of event planning. I started an organization called OHBOY (Organization Helping to Build Our Youth). I would plan events to raise money for community efforts. Fashion Shows, Casino Parties, even club events.
That quickly turned into planning corporate events and then weddings! My business is now 80% weddings and intimate moment events.
At this time, the next thing is to return back to my true purpose and that is being of service. I am currently working to open a Homeschooling Hub that will focus on teaching each individual child how they learn, harvesting their potential and divine purpose, providing guidance of life skills and of course promoting black excellence.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth it ever is lol.
I had a baby and that changed everything. Being a mama came easy but everything else was a struggle. He is 18 months and I am still trying to juggle it all. But there are mama’s out there working through much more than me.
I also have dealt with lots of No’s and still working my corporate job until I take that big leap.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Something Old, Something New, Say “I DO” with Vision Blue. – This is my slogan and most people remember me because of it. I also usually have blue hair lol.
I specialize in all things events, but mostly weddings. I have a corporate project management background.
I am known for my hosting abilities at wedding receptions, speaking engagements and being a sweet person. I am honestly still good friends with 90% of my clients.
What were you like growing up?
Talkative, High Strong and TOO Friendly.
I loved/love music and singing.
