Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah MacMillan.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Colombia and moved to Miami in 1997 to go to college. In my 20’s, I suffered from depression for many years after my boyfriend committed suicide. It was a challenge to work on myself and learn that it was up to me to live the life I wanted with every choice I made from thereon. I started going to therapy, allowing myself to feel and free so many stuck emotions that had stayed in my body, and in my heart. Breathwork helped me a lot, and I started to slowly see the light again and started getting off of my meds for depression.
My journey of self-healing led me to start helping my closest friends and eventually their friends as well, inspiring me to change my lifestyle completely, and begin a purpose-driven life as a healer and transformational coach.
In 2010, I had twins, and that really shifted everything for me. I started questioning what thought the system I was going to teach them, and it all came down to love.
Be Generation Love started just like that. My husband and I started changing every habit we’d been waiting to change for years in order to teach our girls through example. A new lifestyle was born for a generation seeking a life based on love.
In 2012, I sold my businesses and decided to do what I had always dreamed of. I started by getting certified as a yoga teacher and started teaching 13 classes a week. I started hosting a meditation group at our home and felt the calling to get certified and teach meditation. I traveled to Carlsbad, CA for a year and got certified as a Primordial Sound Meditation Teacher at the Chopra Center in 2015, and this inspired me to really step into my calling. In 2016, I began buying instruments after attending a Sound Healing in NYC. The pieces started coming together and I understood why I had studied Music in college, and why I had waited all my life to pursue music until then. I found the sounds of the alchemy bowls resonated with my soul, and I felt I had finally found what I’d been looking for. In 2018, I began my Breathwork Teacher Training Certification with David Elliot after healing my life through this practice and continued my yoga studies with Cyndi Lee to get my 500RYT. It’s been an interesting journey. My parents were missionaries in Colombia, and my whole life, I received messages from strangers about how I would be a healer someday. That day had finally come and my heart was finally ready to listen.
Today, I offer private sessions, group healings, group experiences and Retreats worldwide. Through my digital platform www.begenerationlove.com, I offer virtual healings, memberships, and courses. My passion is to inspire people to connect to their hearts in order to live more loving, balanced, conscious and purpose-driven lives. I believe we’re creating a movement of people seeking a way to self-heal.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Before Be Generation Love, I was an entrepreneur. At age 23, I opened my first business, a successful Day Spa in Belle Meade called Meduhr Day Spa. I started and sold several other businesses, but none of them had been online. Even though I had a lot of experience building and creating businesses, this was my first experience building an online business.
I’ve had to be very patient and really learn many many things I never thought I could learn.
My advice? Don’t give up, be open to change and go with the flow of any learning curve that crosses your path. I can say that after many ups and downs, I am now in control of my online business and that feels amazing. I never thought I was going to be able to say this! Believe in yourself and also start hiring when you start growing. Don’t think you can do it all. Learn to be a student and let others’ expertise help you grow your business.
Please tell us about Be Generation Love – what should we know?
I am a Healer, I help people connect back to their hearts, to their energy, so that they can clear out all the stagnant pain that they’ve been holding onto in order to let go and be free. I love to inspire change from a loving and gentle space for others to live happier, purpose-driven lives.
I am mostly known for my transformational healing sessions which help people get unstuck and heal their life stories (in person or online), and for my retreats.
