Meet Trailblazer Luisa Fernanda Quiceno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Fernanda Quiceno.

Luisa Fernanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Medellin, Colombia. At the age of 4 I came to Miami, Fl. I have been living here my whole life basically but like I have said many times, “you can take me out from Colombia but you can’t take out the Colombian out of me.” I always knew at the age of 14, I wanted to be in front of the camera. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do growing up but I had a few options in mind a lawyer, pathologist, police officer, radio broadcaster or news reporter. I say sometimes we as a person have to go through certain things to get to where you want to be… for example to prepare us for the future. Well, that’s what happened to me I went through something specific to get to where I am now. I knew I had the acting In me, I knew I wanted to be an actress since I was 14. Took me a lot to finally figure it out and even start but I am very happy I found myself. Not how exactly I would have wanted to but I can say I’m extremely blessed. I left my regular “normal” job and risked it all to follow my dreams to go for what I wanted. All I wanted was to be happy so I had to do what I felt was best for me. Thank God for the supportive family they have been there from the start pushing me to be a better person every day. Everything started by one day I started to film a movie in April, someone had told me about acting in it. Which at that time I had already started my acting classes. The movie will come out on January 17th, 2020. I then did my first music video “Delincuente” with big reggaeton artists Anuel AA, Farruko and Kendo Kaponi in May. By this time, I knew I loved the camera and the camera loved me. “I was born for this” my mother kept reminding me. Well, here I am months later doing music videos and shooting different things. I did my first appearance on national television with UniMas/Univision reality show “EnamorandonosUSA.” To find my better half.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting my journey, it was not easy whatsoever at first many times I have wanted to give up but I would take steps back and think about all the sacrifices I have done to get to where I want to be. From filming a movie, to soap opera, too many music videos and being on a reality show, I have realized everything has been worth it. There is moments of breakdowns but I won’t give up until I know and feel that I have made it to where I want to be in my acting, I want to give my all before even thinking about backing down. I would love for every young woman either they are younger than me or the same age to find something they love to do and do it with passion if you do something with love and passion, it’s different because it defines you as a person. People will talk regardless it’s good or bad do what makes you happy. I know it’s easier saying it than actually doing it but if you keep with that mentality you won’t get as far as you would like to or plan. That’s my clear advice to those who are struggling or having a hard time to start. It will be worth it, have faith.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am currently known as a freelance model, that does music videos for a different type of artist in different genres. I am also in acting classes. I have been blessed with offers with certain agency’s but I feel like I am not ready yet to sign my life away let’s say it like that. I have a lot to explore and learn on my own before I am ready to make a decision. But I truly appreciate it from those agencies. What sets me apart from others is definitely my personality and my determination on getting things done also my ambitions to accomplish my goals.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I thank God my childhood was such a beautiful one. I would actually play outside I would do hopscotch with chalk on the sidewalk, also ride my bike. At the age of 8 years old I became a big sister to my brother. But I never had an outsized role in my life growing up.
