Today we’d like to introduce you to Farrah Fleitman.
Farrah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When it comes to the realm of art and music, my passion is deep-rooted. I started off my journey by navigating my way around various south Florida thrift stores and falling in love with the charm of another era. I later took a job at a local record store, which only served to fuel my love of vinyl even more. So much so that I spent some time curating an online vintage boutique, selling some of my favorite albums and clothing from the 60s and 70s. Now that I’m fully immersed into the world of creating content and beauty blogging, I try to marry my retro-loving background with my newfound enjoyment of all things skincare and makeup.
Has it been a smooth road?
I think any of us would be hard-pressed to say we had no struggles along the way. I’m still working as hard as I can to get to where I want to be, but I’m proud of where I am here and now. My background has always been a humble one, so I’ve really had to push for better and better with all the jobs I’ve had. My advice to young women is to first and foremost be true to you. Never sacrifice your personality, your integrity, your heart. Your true light will shine through the struggles and someday you’ll be where you dreamed, believe it with all your soul.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My blog, Gilded Mirror, takes luxury beauty and lifestyle products and sort of puts a twist on it. I’ve always had creative inclinations and I lean a little more towards an artistic angle with my styling and edits. I take high quality, modern products and photograph them with a vintage eye. I’m proud to be unique despite perhaps not fitting into the standard of what a beauty blogger in 2019 “should” be. But I try to be kind, support others and hope that people out there dig what I do.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
It’s rough! We do face challenges. However, we can shine in the face of literally anything and everything. All people on the planet can benefit from realizing there’s nothing a woman can’t conquer.
