Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Rhone.
Traci, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At age 40 years old, I kept feeling that I would die soon. And so, decided to do and be everything I ever wanted to do or be. I believed I could start an indie film production company that would focus on art as a vehicle of positive change. I had just survived a very abusive failed marriage, my father’s sudden death and my mother being diagnosed with terminal cancer all within a few months of each other. Painting ballerinas late at night became my sanity during this time.
I had this innate need to create a community of artists committed to their craft and for space where people could express themselves in a constructive manner. I put an ad on the internet, calls out to artists or interns who wanted to collaborate on creative non-commercial projects that would enact positive change within each person one at a time, our first project was a mess, terrible sound, sloppy footage, fights on set, equipment on its last leg. I learned so much. And what I didn’t learn I remembered what my father Trevor Rhone had taught me. He was a well-known filmmaker of films such as Milk and Honey, The Harder They Come.
And now… I have a team of 23 people, ranging from graphic designers, to media, to post production to human resources. Some of whom have just graduated, many of who experienced veterans in their fields all working toward a common goal without compensation.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been difficult on many levels, no incoming funding. No space to organize, No fancy equipment. We lost some good people along the way that may have stayed if they didn’t have to get another job.
I sometimes wonder, why do I stay up all night working on scripts, applying for grants, meeting with crew on weekends, renting shared space… I realize we do this collectively as a group because we are passionate about the arts and making the world a better place.
We want to live the life we love.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kingston5 Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the fact that Miami is such a metropolitan city, people from all over the world!
There is always a party to go too, a beach to lay on, a beautiful sunset to watch or the sound of falling rain to listen too.
Miami can also be a very lonely superficial empty place. I guess that’s okay, it forces you to be comfortable in your own skin and with your own company.
