Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Blanko.
Tony Blanko was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 28th, 1996. He moved at nine years old to Pennsylvania with his family but being within such a close range. He was back in the Brooklyn streets by the time he was 12. Having spent half of his life in the heavily wooded Pocono Mountains and the other half venturing around the five boroughs, specifically Brooklyn and Staten Island, he grew up with a pretty well-rounded background. His heritage is a mix of Sicilian and Argentinian. However, he grew up with heavy Colombian and Mexican cultural presences due to various aunts and uncles and formed a great appreciation for culture, especially Latino.
However, his name Tony Blanko represents a rebuttal and declaration of self-acknowledgment. Having been made to feel like he wasn’t “accepted” or didn’t “belong” in predominantly Hispanic or white groups, he put the power back into his own hands by creating a brand based on the idea of making the world a better place through encouragement of true self-expression. Tony Blanko uses his platform to uplift and inspires those in search of motivation to improve and express themselves. “Because when you feel good, you make others feel good.”
Writing raps at 15 and influenced by musical artists such as Akon, Tupac, and Drake, he decided that he would go to college for something that he loved and would pursue a degree in Audio Engineering. He left Pennsylvania for South Florida the day after his high school graduation and fell in love with the tropical vibes. He returned to Pennsylvania to attain his Associates and suffered a life-altering injury. This injury would leave him unable to walk for two years before getting a surgery that eventually enabled him to once again be mobile. During this road to recovery, he became serious about his music career and laid the foundations along with his brother Andre The Artist to form their own record label Resurgence Records.
Resurgence Records would then go on to publish various projects by the duo, including solo albums No Excuses by Tony Blanko and New Life by Andre The Artist. A New Life was in the cards for sure, as once Tony Blanko was able to walk again, he packed his car with as many of his belongings as possible and left for South Florida to pursue his musical career. He continues to create a buzz for himself in the Broward and Miami areas by networking and performing in the open mic and underground hiphop circuits.
Now in Miami Gardens, Tony Blanko is a Producer/Recording Artist and motivational speaker that speaks on topics such as Psychology, Human Nature, and Spirituality. He continues to grow his brand and fanbase while also pursuing a career in Real Estate and Sales which he believes will set the groundwork for generational wealth, seeing these as opportunities to create a long-lasting legacy and giving his peers and future generations a role model that is as relatable for his humanity, as he is inspiring for his consistent hustle and refusal to be anything but authentic to his truth.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes easy. If it ain’t one thang, it’s a mothaf***in ‘notha. There’s always struggle. Financially, I had to live with different people for over a year before saving enough to maintain my own financial independence and moving into a humble little home of my own. Personally, I’ve encountered envious opposition who had fronted themselves as support and had my heart broken by a situationship that was carried out way past its expiration date. Spiritually, I’ve had to rebrand and rediscover myself multiple times, but it’s all part of character development. Physically, I once again injured myself and had to walk with crutches for eight months. I’ve spent more than half of my adult life immobile but everything happens for a reason. Now, I take my health, fitness, and nutrition seriously, although I do struggle with a bit of over-indulgence at times.
Remember, however, that there is an opportunity in times of adversity and one must persevere in order to achieve the greatness they desire. We need to accept and acknowledge that there comes a time where we must cut our losses and move on to things that better serve our purpose. I use every one of these obstacles as themes in my music and use these challenges/experiences to share to my community every lesson that was taken from them. You only fail if you did not learn something.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My business is music and personality. To entertain, to inspire, to encourage those that are down, need some motivation, and require some positive energy to help them believe in themselves. To express themselves raw and unapologetically. To self improve and make the world a better place because when you feel good, you make others feel good. I am a producer who makes beats and facilitates recording artists with whatever they need to complete their projects and bring it to life. Recording, Mixing & Mastering, Graphic Design, Promotional services. Event Hosting, Event Organizing, etc.
Tony Blanko is known for bringing positive energy to any and all events to promote a higher truer sense of comfort to be one’s self, by means of empathy to encourage true self-expression. I am most proud of the community and family-feel that my audience has formed. What sets Tony Blanko apart from other brands is the mixture of psychology and spirituality that is blended into the motivation expressed in the music and other content being pushed by Tony Blanko, who keeps it real and relatable to people of all walks of life.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
ABSOLUTELY. Miami is a musical powerhouse with artists from Trick Daddy, to Rick Ross, and Pitbull amongst many other Miami legends that changed the game. There is so much talent here and as a producer looking to network with other creatives, this is an incredible place to do so. Miami is so vibrant with something to offer everybody. Coming from New York, I feel at home here and with the tropical vibes, nothing else compares.
For the beginner, I would say that it requires serious grind and dedication to make such a big move to a sometimes unforgiving city. Where no mercy is given and if you want something you have to go get it, you have to be willing to eat s**t. Be ALL IN, or just come on vacation because you will have to sacrifice a lot of time, effort, and money to make it here in the long run. I wouldn’t change a thing because I think it separates the people who are serious about their goals from the fickleness of others who aren’t as dedicated. However, for the sake of giving a recommendation, I would say that the city could be a little less expensive, the cost of living here is pretty high. Much love, appreciation, and gratitude to the 305 and the 954. The personal growth that I’ve experienced here is priceless.
