Meet Todd Soard of International EMS Registry in Coral Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Soard.

Todd, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began an EMS career in 1981 as a volunteer for the Red Cross and American Heart Association. I then became an EMT and Paramedic. I worked on the streets as an EMT and Paramedic and helped start the education department for the service I worked for and for physician groups. In 1992 I started my own continuing education service which is known today as Emergency Educational Training Institute. I recently sold the college portion of Emergency Educational Institute that offers initial EMT, Paramedic and Nursing training.

In 2003, I started the International EMS Registry based on a true need for quality testing for Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, and Paramedic certification outside of the United States. This has grown to several countries and our testing is offered in all Florida counties for High School students completing the EMR program.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been bumpy but a worthwhile learning experience. Being an EMS Consultant requires that you prove yourself to your peers, even if you meet the requirements to offer educational courses. In the beginning, there were a lot of people saying that I could not do this type of business for one reason or another. I knew what I was doing was above board, ethical, and a service to the community. I kept pushing on no matter what.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the International EMS Registry story. Tell us more about the business.
IEMSR provides testing evaluation for those that have completed the EMR, EMT, or Paramedic program. The company was started by only one other company, that is nationally accepted, is providing such testing but with limited resources. EMR is accepted by Florida and all our testing is accepted in various countries. Our website is www.iemsr.org.

The educational service under Emergency Educational Training Institute provides continuing education for medical personnel and the public. EETI is an American Heart Training Center and provides a wide range of courses. the website for EETI is www.eeti.training.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that maintaining ethics and treating all equally has provided a strong base. If luck were true, maintaining high standards has brought clients to us.
