Meet Tatyanna Dames of She’s A Doll in Miramar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatyanna Dames.

Tatyanna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
She’s A Doll was born on October 31, 2018. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was sitting in my bed with my laptop in my lap, staring at the publish button on my website. I was so nervous and afraid about this new venture in my life that I was trembling. She’s A Doll was originally thought about in 2017 but I had no idea how to begin with the idea of starting my own business. After finally getting the courage to hit the publish button on my website, She’s A Doll was now live to the world.

After graduating from college in 2016 and entering my career field, I quickly begin to notice a feeling of having a lack of purpose over my life. My daily routine had become repetitive and I felt like I was losing who I was. Ever since I was 12, I’ve always wanted to be my own boss. I remember starting my own cleaning business and cleaning houses because of how much I wanted to be a business owner. I had created business cards, a business name, invoices, etc. No one could tell me that my business was not legit.

The best part about owning your own business is watching it grow. It has been amazing watching She’s A Doll grow and receiving feedback from customers telling me how much they love my clothes. I got to where I am today by being consistent and staying true to my brand. If I could give any advice to anyone who wants to start a clothing store, it would be to stay consistent, be original, and stay true to what your brand stands for.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but I’m very thankful for these challenges because it continues to make me stronger and a better businesswoman. Some of the struggles along the way is learning how to reach people and network outside of my bubble. If you’re an extrovert like me, it can be very difficult to meet people and to get out of your shell when it comes to your business. She’s A Doll has definitely forced me to get out of my bubble and to meet people and tell the world about She’s A Doll.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the She’s A Doll story. Tell us more about the business.
She’s A Doll is an online clothing retailer that helps women find their inner doll. Our story began in a small apartment with only our passion for fashion and a desire to have unique quality clothing by women for women. We strive on creating a luxury experience for every doll from the time you enter our website all the way to receiving your package.

What I’m most proud of and what sets us apart from others is that even though She’s A Doll is a small business, we are still able to provide the same luxurious experience as a retail store with amazing customer service, and still have affordable prices and expedited shipping times.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five years, I see She’s A Doll becoming a household name, moving into a bigger space, and opening up a showroom/retail space. I see our clothes on celebrities, major influencers, TV ads and more. I also see us becoming a more sustainable brand and giving back to the community, I also hope to use my platform to put more women and minorities into leadership roles.
