Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Peck and Maria Isabel Gutierrez.
Maria Isabel Gutierrez and Tania Peck are the owners of the Franchise Club Pilates in South Miami.
Both Gutierrez and Peck came from Corporate America where each had successful careers in their own fields. They both worked for large corporations and were used to a certain structure, a steady paycheck and some personal benefits that come with giving your time and talent to develop a big brand. During their time as employees, they both managed to balance their families and work. But at the end of the day, they were both traveling extensively and not giving themselves time and quality of life, so they decided to look for something where they could still be active and use their professional experience (especially since they both worked in the franchise business), but also allowed them to leap into developing their own business.
They explored different options in the franchise world, and they found the Club Pilates franchise. It met all their expectations: they thought that with this business they could make a difference in people’s lives, but also in this franchise was an emerging brand with multi-unit potential that they could grow. Today, after a lot of hard work and planning, they are very satisfied of the decision of becoming entrepreneurs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We’ve been working very hard and we are in a good place now, but it is not all smooth sailing when you decide to become an entrepreneur and you are faced with solving every single item by yourself. Having a partner is a big help, and we have found a way to divide and conquer. In addition, once we started hiring our team we were able to delegate some of the tasks, but we still have all the responsibility in our shoulders.
After we signed our development agreement and we started to look for sites and to understand the challenges of opening a business in a very regulated community like Miami, we quickly understood that we needed to dedicate long hours to learn and solve issues that we didn’t even know we were going to face. Along the way and we found some good people to help us and we were able to open our first studio in Brickell. Opening the first one was the hardest. Now that we’ve opened two and we are working on the third one, we’ve learned some things that we can replicate, but they all have their own particular challenges.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Club Pilates – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We make a difference in people’s lives by offering reformer Pilates group class and private classes too. Our Club Pilates instructors have more trained hours across more Pilates disciplines than the industry standard in order to fully deliver on our promises to our members. This, combined with state of the art equipment, provides the finest strength-training workout available to anyone, at any age, and for any fitness level.
As owners/operators and after opening the first two studios we can say that what we are most proud of is our TEAM, we really put our people first. We are proud of our entire team of customer service experts and best-in-class instructors. Our continued success comes from what they do every day and how well they perform for our members, and they do a great job every day!
On a personal level, we are very proud of how we now have a successful business with over 25 team members and over 800 members that come to our studios as their place of work or as their place to get a great workout. We split our time between developing our team to provide the best customer experience we can give, managing the business strategy to grow and sustain the member base, and opening the new studio.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are working towards opening Club Pilates Coral Gables first week of October, we are excited to be part of this great community!
