Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Goodman.
Hi Steven, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Steven R Goodman AKA JUKES.
I started off doing graffiti at a young age with my brother RIPES MSG. I spent a number of years strictly doing letters and then transitioned into realism and portrait painting in the beginning of 2020 after getting into some legal issues with the graffiti thing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve definitely endured my fair share of struggles along the way from legal issues and just life in general. The setbacks have helped me grow significantly though and really helped me shape the vision for myself.
As an artist, I feel like as long as you’re putting out good work, the rest will follow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work has changed a great deal throughout the years and is constantly changing.
My style now is more realism mixed with a bit of abstract. I am very proud of where I am now as an artist, I would have never thought I’d be doing this for real like I am now.
What sets me apart is I don’t let anyone, or anything, get in the way. I have my vision for myself and my work and I never let anything get in the way of that. Success is key for me.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see art being around forever.
Trends do come and go but I try to stay in my own lane to seperate myself from the rest.
