Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Sahadeo.

Stephanie Sahadeo

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My family hails from the Caribbean with roots in the island of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Guyana in South America. Flavor has always been paramount for me, especially given my Caribbean upbringing. Taste, after all, is everything! I envisioned creating juices that not only benefit the body but are also undeniably delicious.

So in April 2020, shortly after the COVID pandemic began, Dushi Juicy sprouted. Despite the challenging times, I aimed to encourage health and wellness through my business to share the power of health by nourishing our bodies from the inside out. My juices contain only fruits and vegetables, with no added sugars, sweeteners, or preservatives—just a whole lot of love.

These cold-pressed juices offer a host of benefits, including lowering inflammation, regulating blood sugar levels, boosting immunity, increasing energy, and aiding in detoxification. As a black-woman-owned business, I actively support other small, local, black-owned, and women-owned businesses which not only helps me spread awareness of my mission and business but helps others with theirs as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Right as the world grappled with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I launched Dushi Juicy, and during such uncertain times required resilience and adaptability. While promoting health and wellness, I faced the challenge of educating consumers about the benefits of cold-pressed, organic juices. Convincing people to prioritize their well-being through natural, nutrient-rich beverages was no small feat.

The beverage industry is highly competitive, with established players dominating the market. Dushi Juicy had to carve out its niche and differentiate itself by emphasizing quality, purity, and flavor. Sourcing fresh, organic ingredients consistently can be challenging. Ensuring a steady supply of high-quality fruits and vegetables for cold-pressed juices required strategic purchasing and reliable sourcing.

Like any startup, my company faced financial constraints. Balancing operational costs, marketing expenses, and growth aspirations demanded careful financial planning. Despite these obstacles, I persevered, creating delicious, wholesome juices that resonate with health enthusiasts. My commitment to quality, community, and flavor continues to be my drive to success!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from Dushi Juicy, I am creative. I enjoy all forms and expressions of art especially drawing, painting, modeling, yoga, and photography. Professional model work and amateur acro yoga are amongst my favorite forms of expression as I get to utilize my mind, body, and spirit to create and share. Walking in New York Fashion Week, being published in a multitude of magazines are among my favorite moments that I am most proud of myself for.

Being able to distinguish work from your art and becoming selective on the ventures I choose to represent and have my brand represent is critical for me. I believe this sets me apart from others because I am aligned with anything I represent.

What matters most to you?
Sharing love. Helping others. These things can be shown in so many ways. Loving someone back to health. Helping someone love themselves through representation, confidence, and vulnerability. I feel fulfilled when someone is impacted by these things and it allows them to feel comfortable in their own skin as well as wanting to take care of themselves.
