Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofía Iglesias .
Sofía, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was four years old, I started doing recreational gymnastics with my best friend. Three years later, I transferred to a different gymnastics center located in Hollywood, Florida, where my coaches offered me to try out for the gymnastics team. Once I tried out, they told me that I made the team, I was full of joy and excitement.
Once competition season came, I was nervous to compete for the first time because I was afraid to fall, but eventually, I overcame that fear because I loved gymnastics and I kept going after years of competing and winning gold medals/ trophies. Receiving them I felt like all my hard work had paid off. I learned to never give up and learned to grab my coaches corrections and do them right that second, overall it made me a more responsible person than what I am as I was born. Later on, I decided to transfer to dance because I was really passionate to learn how to dance. I tried out for a dance team and I made it, now that I’m part of the dance team I feel like I can be free and dance with my emotions, gymnastics was a huge benefit for my life because In order for me to make the dance team I had to have a strong foundation, because of gymnastics I had flexibility, strength, different acrobatic skills. About two years ago, my mom registered me and my sister to attend a summer acting camp, which really helped me to gain confidence in front of audiences.
I learned to act, dance, sing, and improvise. Then at the end of my session there we did a huge theater show, after this my mom received a call, and producers wanted to make a film with my sister Sarah. The day that she was filming a movie they invited me to do a casting, for a movie too. I got picked and filmed the movie. The film that I was in was shown in the Miami international film gate. I was so proud of myself for finally being on a screen for the first time. I also would like to thank all my family for their love and support, especially my mom and dad. For my model and acting career, I got into a talent agency. About two months ago, I was chosen to do a commercial for a hospital in Colorado. I was chosen because of my dance talent and acting. Due to my preparation and all my hard work, I am an actress, dancer, model, and on top of that an honors A+ student. I’m very proud to be a Floridian born in Miami Beach 🏖
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some struggles I faced were to be in contact with different personalities in my dancing, I understand that we’re all different and to accept it. Another struggle was my patience, sometimes the castings and filming take a very long time and I learned that in order to be where I am today, I need to become more patient. Another struggle was with my dancing, my coaches that I love, would tell me to do it over again even though I thought it was right I would get kind of upset, but this taught me to that even though I think this is the right choice it may not be.

I don’t have a company, but my mom has her own marketing communication company and my dad has his own soccer center. All I can say is that I’m very thankful and happy to have these amazing and hard-working parents. What makes me different from others is my fame 😂 it makes me happy and really fun that all my classmates and teachers appreciate me and my acting.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have not liked to do anything different. I would keep everything the same because even though I faced different obstacles, it all got me to be the person that I am today.
