Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Shiver.
Sheri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from Bridgewater College in Virginia a semester early in January 2013 with a degree in communication studies and public relations. Three days after I graduated, I moved to NYC to work as an event planner, which was my dream job at the time. NYC wasn’t what I expected and after the first winter, I decided the city just wasn’t worth it so I moved to Baltimore and got a job as a financial consultant at a bank and WOW was that job NOT for me! I went to work every day from 9 to 5 and HATED it! This is when I started my personal development journey because whenever I complained to friends and family, I’d get responses like “welcome to adulthood” and I was like ‘absolutely not, I’m not going to be miserable for the next 40 years of my life because “that’s the way it is,” so while I worked, I dabbled in FOREX, started an event planning company, dipped my toes in multi-level marketing, and then quit all of those things. I did a lot of research and learning and failing, and more learning from the failing. Eventually, I went to work as a sales coordinator at a big biotech company. I was making a lot more money, got three promotions in about two years, the first one being into the marketing department. One day, I decided to ask for a $20K raise and the HR department told me “you’ll never find a company that will pay YOU that much” and well… challenge accepted. About a month later, I got a job offer at Canon for a digital marketing position and they were willing to give me that $20K pay increase. If you’re wondering if I smugly took my offer letter to that HR lady, the answer is a big fat yes! I spent almost two years at Canon (which was amazing, I loved my coworkers and the work I was doing!), while I started my current business and took it on full time in December 2018. I’m now a business and marketing coach helping millennials create their own freedom through building sustainable businesses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been a lot of struggles along the way but each challenge brought on growth. The biggest struggle was mastering my mind. You can have every business and marketing strategy in the world, but if your mind controls you (instead of you being a master of your mind), you will be very unlikely to get the results you want.
Mastering your mindset is an ongoing journey, but I improve each day through journaling, meditation, and constant self-analysis.

I am a business and marketing coach specializing in creating business systems and using attraction based marketing. My focus is to help my clients create sustainable businesses that can grow easily and quickly.
What sets me apart from others in my niche is that I want my clients to enjoy the process just as much as they enjoy the results. I help them find and implement strategies that they’re excited about executing on, not just excited about the results they will get.
Any predictions for the industry over the next few years?
I see the business coaching industry growing as the world becomes more connected and the barriers to entrepreneurship are lower than ever. Many people who start their own business have some sort of skill, they’re a master of their craft and they want to use that skill to work for themselves. However, they don’t necessarily have the business and marketing knowledge to build their empire quickly and in a sustainable way. Having a coach allows them to build a strong foundation and fast track their results instead of spending years trying to figure it out themselves.
