Meet Shena Dominitz of SHENA’S Sweet Spice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shena Dominitz.

Shena, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After receiving my bachelor’s in NYC I decided to pursue my baking/cooking passion and continue to culinary school. I complete a six month program at the CKCA then continued to ICE for a specialty in baking and pastry.

After interning for the amazing Lovin Sullivan in NYC I began selling from my home custom specialty cakes. In 2014 I move to Miami with my husband and two kids and continued selling specialty orders. My concentration is my Instagram page where I post recipes and cooking/baking tips. I make it a point to share all recipes. I continue to make custom orders. Today I have four kids and have such a great time featuring them into my homey reality insta page.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m now trying to get my recipes organized to come out with a cookbook hopefully soon.

Please tell us about SHENA’S Sweet Spice.
I believe in sharing recipes for three reasons. 1. Forces you to get more creative and come forth with new creative ideas 2. No one will ever make it like you. 3. Sharing is caring and not sharing is so old school. I offer a homemade product which is all organic, with the best of ingredients. I never use margarine or shortening in my baked goods. Only glass jar oils and the cleanest ingredients I can find.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have finished the entire culinary program at ICE not just the baking and pastry
