Shayla, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing freelance makeup in my home bathroom in 2010, over the years’ time has helped me grow and learn more about this industry and its techniques. It also has helped me become more responsible in the business and make it MY BUSINESS by becoming more professionally relevant with a website and other marketing outlets. I have launched a mink lash line as well. I have collaborated with two other female black entrepreneurs and we now have all of our businesses under one roof.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course nothing is smooth. We all have our struggles to get to our highest level.

Cosmetic Addict is a company that specializes in Makeup artistry we’re known for making our clients looks most natural for whatever event they are attending. What I’m most proud of the company that it’s MINE and I have a lot to look forward to when I’m in my zone.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I definitely see my own cosmetics and skin care line being that I have already branched out into my own mink lash line! I LOVE seeing MY name on products!
