Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Merceda, Shannon Priester, and Misty Hawkins .
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My team and I had an idea to start our own business, but we had no idea on what it could be. We talked for months on several different ideas, but nothing was sticking. Then we all realized that we’re all crafty with materials, such as beading and wiring, so we decided to start a jewelry business. Even though we have only started a few months ago, many people responded to our unique jewelry designs. We are on our way to success!
Our passion is to help women follow their dreams like we did. We all have been through some horrendous things like illness, poverty, bullying, etc. We want to inspire women to follow their dream.
We want to encourage women to feel like queens through our jewelry. Our goal is to have a variety of designs for all queens, no matter their style. We took a leap to faith to follow our passion for jewelry making and women empowerment.
Starting our business was overwhelming but satisfying. If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try it, that’s our motto.
Please tell us about your art.
Our team focuses on creating handmade jewelry. We use different materials, such as wire, feathers, beads, tassels, and puffballs, to create a unique style. Our company offers personalized and custom jewelry to ensure the customer’s happiness to help them express themselves. We take pride in using our imagination and creativity to inspire women. These women can show their inner queen by wearing our handcrafted Jewelry.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
We started our business seven months ago. It is very difficult trying to balance everyday challenges, such as taking care of family, full-time jobs, social life, and being an entrepreneur. As a new entrepreneur, we handled our financial struggles by buying the best quality and most unique materials we could find at a reasonable price. We also collected vintage pieces and upcycled it. The hardest part for us was our fear of failure, and no one responding to our jewelry designs. What encouraged us through these struggles was knowing that nothing worth having comes easy.
We strived to do our best to push forward and follow our dreams. This journey we’re on isn’t easy, and every day we’re learning new innovative ways to make new jewelry designs and sell our products. Our advice for those struggling is to do what you can with what you have. Our next piece of advice is to just start and stop waiting for the right time.
