Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Halfen.
SDH Studio Architecture and Design was founded by Stephanie in 2009.
She was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. She received her Architecture degree from Universidad Simon Bolivar where she graduated summa cum laude and her Interior Design Degree from Parsons School of Design in New York where she also graduated with highest honors.
Stephanie started her professional career in college when she was commissioned her first residential project located in El Avila National Park. Turning it into her graduating thesis project she was able to explore in depth the dialogue between landscape and architectural form, between details and purpose, and developed innovative ways to live in a tropical environment. Upon graduation, she took charge of the construction management and architectural supervision of the project until its completion in 2006.
Shortly after she became an Associate Professor in the Architecture and Design Department at Universidad Simon Bolivar. After relocating to Miami in 2009, she decided to continue her career in architecture and founded SDH Studio.
SDH is a young, innovative practice that focuses on creating spaces that inspire. With an ongoing search for the essence of architecture and design, a strong emphasis is placed on light, form and function.
SDH strives to develop designs that encapsulate the heart and individuality of each client. The client’s vision of the project is a key component of the holistic approach to the design and development process.
Sensitive to the peculiarities of each site, SDH is constantly searching for new creative ways to integrate the interior with the exterior in order to create an intimate relationship between the user and his surroundings.
Simple lines and expressive materials shape the palette for both the home’s exteriors and interiors. Understanding the fundamental nature of each material allows us to create inherent designs that establish a dialogue between the architectural form and its environment.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a very exciting road. A lot of long hours and hard work.
Extremely grateful and lucky to have had an amazing group of clients that put their faith in me even when I had nothing to show and was still working from a small space at home… It has been an incredibly journey of dreaming, learning and teaming with incredible people.

Our company focuses primarily on the design of luxury homes throughout South Florida. We also do commercial design.
SDH Studio specializes in Architecture and Interior Design however we also do a lot of Landscaping Architecture.
What I’m most proud of SDH is our amazing team of professionals and our deep interest in understanding the needs of each of our clients. Also, the time and effort we put in designing every single aspect of each project.
What were you like growing up?
The youngest between my brother and sister, I was very stubborn and determined, I wanted to be an Architect since I was very little. Very creative and outdoorsy. I loved all kinds of outdoor sports and activities.
