Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Cardenas.
Sara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a Mexican-American who grew up in a small border town in South Texas, I’ve had the advantage of enjoying life on both sides of the border. Aside from all the fun and beauty of Mexico, I witnessed a lot poverty, hunger and a lack of necessities. I witnessed children 3+ selling candies, waters and whatever they could to help support their families. The hustle and perseverance these children had really impacted and inspired me to help those in need. I’ve traveled to many third-world countries and have seen the poor conditions that hundreds of thousands of civilians live in and I feel like one of my life’s purposes is to aid and inspire others to change the world through acts of kindness. My philanthropic endeavors throughout the years have brought so much joy into my life and have really motivated me to do more – and that is exactly what I plan to do. Stay tuned, my friends.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, there have been obstacles and challenges along the way. I have moved around quite a bit, so I know what it is to start from the bottom and rebuild my life – new cities, new jobs, new friends, new everything. As others may find it risky or difficult, it’s something that has always empowered and driven me. I love challenges. I love taking risks and I absolutely love proving other’s wrong. These life challenges have made me the strong, independent woman that I am today, and for that, I am extremely grateful and I wouldn’t change a single thing.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Apart from my career in Finance, I try to dedicate as much time as possible to giving back to the community. I’ve always had a soft spot for the homeless, but I love to volunteer at pet shelters, retirement homes, and schools. I volunteer with various organizations such as the Miami Model Citizens, Miami Rescue Mission, Mayan Fields Foundation, Boo2Bullying, etc., but do many things on my own. It brings me so much joy and happiness to make other’s smile and make a difference; even the smallest acts of kindness go a long way and I love to spread the love! I am naturally a caregiver and have a huge heart so that mixed my passion is really what sets me apart from others.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love everything about Miami – the different cultures, the food, the beach and all of the endless opportunities. At times the people are a hit or miss, but I’m lucky to have made some amazing friendships along the way.
