Today we’d like to introduce you to Santha Herard.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I remember when I was nine years old, I was in love with doing my hair. I would ask my older sister to do her hair and she would not let me do it. Finally, my mom allowed me to practice braiding her hair, and she was in love with it. She told all her friends at work to come get their hair done by me, and they did. Also back then, they were paying me like $20 for micros, yet I still did them. It was then I realized that I was gifted in doing hair and that it was my calling.
I have been a hairstylist now for over six years. I absolutely enjoy doing what I do with everything in me and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Presently, I own a product line consisting of bundles, hair gel, Edge control, and foam mousse.
I have been selling hair bundles for four years now and the support has been so real in my community. My business has come a long way, and I’m so thankful that God has blessed my business tremendously. I’m also working on some new stuff that will come out at the end of this year, and I’m super excited!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has actually been a pretty smooth road for the most part. However, y’all know sometimes you just can’t please everyone, and every client just isn’t for you, and that’s ok! I have definitely been blessed with some amazing clients along the way, I love them so much.
Hair By Santha – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in sew ins! Closure sew ins are actually my favorite, and I would say that’s what I am known for around here. I also make custom unit wigs with my Fortunate bundles, and what sets me apart from others is my counseling/coaching nature. It’s always such a good vibe with my clients, they’re not just strictly getting their hair done, we’re also having a good time.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is actually just achieving my goals and impacting the community.
