Meet Sam Paige

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Paige.

Hi Sam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started TikTok during quarantine like most people. I grew up dancing and thought that the app would be fun to fill up time not knowing that there was a community of people needing body positivity in their lives. In my first month, I had a video hit a million views and that’s basically how it all started. I dance mostly in bikinis to show everyone that anybody is a bikini body and worth love. My most viral video with 52 million views was WAP and it helped blow up my account gaining over 400k followers in a week. To now having 3 million followers!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not a smooth ride. With a big viral video there is always hate. My WAP video has over 30k comments calling me a whale. I had been bullied growing up so the hate didn’t bother me too much but 30k people calling you a name can definitely take a toll on your mental. Besides that TikTok is inherently fatphobic and my videos and account is consistent deleted for doing the same trends as skinnier bodies. I have had to start a petition to gain my account back.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I mostly dance on TikTok but have gained an audience on Instagram as well. While dancing, I show plus-size fashion and my travels. From doing TikTok dances, I have also become a plus-size model walking in Miami Swim Week and NYFW. I am pushing beauty standards and trying to make this world and social media more accepting of all bodies.
