Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte Crawford.
Donte, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Rwac (Rebel With A Cause) was started in 2017 when I started learning more about the black panther party. I got the idea for the brand when I asked one of my friends did he know who Fred Hampton was, and when he told me no I started asking more of my friends the same questions to find out that most of them didn’t know who he was either. So I came up with a way to educate my peers about black political leaders and what’s more influential than music and fashion. I dropped my first shirt in November of 2017 when my son’s mother gave me the money to get my first order of shirts and we sold out in three days. That’s when I knew I had something special on my hands, so I stayed consistent and continued to put out designs. Now the brand has spread out multiple states and I even had an order in England and Morocco.
Has it been a smooth road?
No the road hasn’t been smooth. I’ve been faced with many struggles from putting out designs that didn’t sell how I thought they would to people ordering shirts then disputing the charges but the most difficult decision I had to make was quitting my job to focus full time on my brand.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RWAC Clothing Line story. Tell us more about the business.
Rwac is a clothing line. We sell tee shirts, hoodies and hats. We specialize in our graphic tees and we’re known for our classic urban fashion that’s also informative. Our designs are eye-catchers and sometimes frowned upon by our oppressors. I’m most proud of our ability to maintain consistency. Everyone is in the field, putting in work we all grind! What makes us stand out from others is we’re fearless we’re not afraid the negative feedback we may get from our designs.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the brand being a franchise with a store in every major city. I can see the brand growing and shifting from graphic tees to casual wear.
