Meet Royal Gunter of Savoury Eats in Greater FT Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Royal Gunter.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Born and Raised in Atlanta, GA. I always knew I want to be a Chef bc I was drawn to the fire, and I was a chunky kid who liked to eat. The two went hand in hand, I felt like it was destiny, lol. I went to Culinary School at the age of 17 and slowly worked my way up the ranks through my ventures from Fine Dining, Private Country Clubs, Corporate Dining and Catering, Traveling Chef Trainer, and Private Medical facilities recently.

I have lived in a few States throughout the Country and have trained chefs throughout via my previous tenure with Bon Appetit management company (bamco) as a traveling chef and have been blessed to work with Master Chefs, James Beard award-winning Chefs, award-winning food, stylist, and some Celebrity Chefs at times.

After opening and operating a food truck for BAMCO in Seattle, and gaining great press and exposure, I decided to open one when I moved to the area. I opened a truck bc I loved the freedom from a certain location, the awesome guest interactions, and having the ability to be spontaneous and adventurous with the menu on my own dime.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I feel there will always be some sort of struggle or minor set back along the way. It’s a part of becoming a true Chef. The long nights, early starts, temperamental Exec Chefs and owners, late night partying that always has a negative effect in a hot kitchen. I can say there have been plenty of bumps by my hands and by others. You just have to be prepared.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Savoury Eats is a Global Style Craft Food truck. Offering a rotating menu, and online ordering with text notifications. Don’t lose your seat and never wait in line again! S3eats.com.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up in the South, I always had a personable trait. I was always able to get along and mingle with different folks as Atlanta is melting pot of great people. I always had a niche for making people laugh and finding humor where others don’t, I was always a class clown. I was involved in Home Ec., played baseball, football, soccer.
