Meet Rose Appiah of Ashanti Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Appiah. She and her team share their story with us below:

Ashanti Cosmetics was born out of Rose Appiah’s Ghanaian roots and scientific background in 2017 and has been nurtured by her ever since. Her motivation was personal at first: after many rounds of trial and error spent looking for a treatment for his son’s eczema, she turned to her grandmother’s age-old, traditional recipes. Once the recipes brought results for her family and friends, word got out about her formulas, and requests poured in. She then spent six years fine-tuning and developing the texture, scent and quality of each formula and turned them into the products known now as Ashanti collections. It started small but grew big: in 2022, Ashanti Cosmetics is already an international brand with industry awards under its belt and about to open our first Miami store middle of August 2022 and I am very excited and can not wait to meet the Miami crowd and we are also launching our make up collection. So we have lot coming that we cant wait to share with the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. It has been a difficult road. First, the funding was a hard start, and also in an industry that is so saturated, I was the small fish trying to survive in this big ocean. It was hard but I believed and believed in my dream of making an international brand, so I kept going forward and every pain and tear shed has been worth it to get the feedback I get from my customers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ashanti Cosmetics?
”Beauty should be simple.”

We were all born beautiful, but it’s hard to find the right formulas that enhance our beauty rather than over glow it. With our products made up of only what is available in nature, we are here to prove that anyone and everyone can achieve the best version of themselves.

”What’s good for the skin should be good for the environment.”

To promote skin health, we produce all our products without parabens, phthalates, synthetic ingredients, sodium laurel sulfate, chemicals, fillers, mineral oils, and petroleum. And to do our part for our globe, all formulas are made with 100% natural, certified organic, cruelty-free, plant-based, clean ingredients.

What were you like growing up?
I was a quite a trouble maker in terms of always challenged what everybody accepted. So I got in trouble a lot with my school teachers and most adults. I loved to be with grandmother, she taught me everything and we got on very well! We will cook together which was one of my best things to do. I loved computers as teenager and I was interested in them so much that I went to university studying Software Engineering before I switched to cosmetics.
